I turned away, stomping down the hall. I had heard enough. Enough secret sharing about lies being told to me. I'm over this. All of it.
I still have over two weeks until my ceremony. No one will give me the truth, even knowing that I'm confused about things. Even if they did, at this point, I wouldn't believe a single fu.cking thing out of anyone's mouth. I need proof. Some kind of proof. Without it, I refuse to believe a thing.
And where better to get that proof than from a historical book?
Now I understand why Tiara wanted me to read those books so badly. She knew that I didn't know. Tiara probably even guessed that I wouldn't believe her if she out-right told me. It would have been her word against Lenny's, and I would have gladly believed Lenny without even looking in the books.
