Lexi Three long excruciating hours later, Doctor Harrison came out of the operating room, a smile on his face. “Is she okay?” I ran to him, trying to ignore the heavy drumming of my heart. “Yes, your mother is fine. Don't worry.” A sigh of relief escaped my lips and the weight that had been sitting on my chest finally eased up. “So, it was a success?” He nodded. “Oh, thank God,” I sighed again, clutching my rapidly beating heart in relief. I wasn't sure what I'd do if it was otherwise. “See me in my office, will you?” Dr Harrison smiled, his widow's peak more pronounced. “Sure,” I nodded.
