Chapter 12 The mood in the cave was intense, to say the least. Her parents were sitting on the edge of the bed, which would have been funny if not for the situation they were currently in. Tawni had been sitting in her little chamber at the back of the cave, but she’d come out and sat on a stool next to Kris. Her parents looked like they wanted to ask her a thousand questions, but they hadn’t—not yet, anyway. They didn’t even look nervous, just bored. Kris wanted to yell at them. Even she was nervous, and she’d been in a lot of dangerous situations since leaving the city. Humans. What does that mean? She was human. So were her parents. There was some definite animosity against them from some of the Shifters, she knew that much. But would it ever amount to any violence? She hoped not.
