I felt chill run down my spine as I read the letter. I quickly placed the flowers and the letter on the table before pulling my phone out of my pocket and immediately calling Samuel. โ€œSamuel,โ€ I said. โ€œWhy did you call? I'm actually busy right now. Can we talk later?โ€ โ€œThereโ€™s something I want to ask you...โ€ โ€œWhat is it?โ€ He asked. I was silent for a moment before finally speaking. โ€œDid you send me flowers?โ€ I asked, my eyes still fixed on the bouquet in front of me. โ€œNo.โ€ From the way he answered, I could tell he really hadn't sent them. โ€œYou know I always give you flowers personally whenever I do. Why? Did someone send you flowers?โ€ โ€œUhโ€”o-okay...โ€ I stammered. โ€œI'll talk to you later. Fucos on your work for now. Bye.โ€ I ended the call and picked up the bouquet before heading toward the back of the house. I threw the flowers into the trash and stood there for a moment, staring at them. โ€œIf the flowers didn't come from, Samuel, then who sent them? Who is he, and why would he send me flowers?โ€ My eyes widened when I suddenly remembered the man who kissed me that night. There was only one person I could think of who would do something like this. And it was him. He was the only person I could think of who would do something like this. I couldn't think of anyone else who would, especially after that man had stolen a kiss from my lips. I went back to the living room and found Elara already there. She had the remote in one hand while munching on some cookies. โ€œWhere did you go?โ€ She asked, briefly glancing at me before turning her attention back to the television. โ€œI noticed you were gone, and the TV was still on.โ€ โ€œJust out back. I had to throw some trash away,โ€ I managed to say. She simply nodded, her mouth still full of cookies. โ€œIโ€™m going upstairs for a while,โ€ I said before leaving. โ€œOkay.โ€ I walked upstairs and went straight to my room. I practically threw myself onto the bed and let out a deep sigh. I couldn't get that flower out of my mind. Something about it didn't feel right. The next day, after I finished attending to one of my patients and was about to leave, a man suddenly arrived at the emergency room. There was a small amount of blood along the side of his forehead and a minor cut on his arm. It looked like he'd been in a minor accident, but his condition didn't seem serious. I couldn't get a good look at his face because the nurse was blocking my view. โ€œMiss, can you assist him?โ€ My fellow nurse called. I immediately walked over. I froze when the man turned toward me, only to find him already looking straight at me. My lips parted slightly, and my eyes widened. I didn't know why, but the way he was staring at me made ne nervous. โ€œMiss, assistant him, please,โ€ The nurse said again, snapping me out of my thoughts. I quickly composed myself and walked over to the man, who was sitting on the examination bed. I gathered everything I needed to clean his wounds before approaching him. โ€œPlease stay still,โ€ I said as I prepared the gauze and antiseptic. He gave me a slight nod. I reached for his arm and gently wiped away the blood. From the corner of my eye, I noticed that he was staring at me intently. After cleaning the wound on his arms, I moved on to the cut on his forehead. I couldn't help but feel nervous under his intense gaze. โ€œS-sorry,โ€ I muttered when I pressed a little too hard against his wound. But he didn't even flinch. โ€œIt's fine,โ€ He said, his voice deep and low. I said nothing, swallowing repeatedly as I tried to calm myself down. โ€œWhy are you sweating?โ€ Ge suddenly asked. โ€œW-what?โ€ I asked, even though I had clearly heard him. โ€œYou smell so good,โ€ He said. I looked at him, and our eyes immediately met. โ€œI-Iโ€™m done,โ€ I said quickly, looking away. I gathered the supplies I had used and was about to leave when he suddenly pulled me closer. โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€ I asked, glancing around. Thankfully, no one seemed to be looking in our direction. โ€œItโ€™s only been a few days since that night, but I already find myself craving you,โ€ He said, his eyes fixed on mine. โ€œJust let me go,โ€ I said again, my voice barely above a whisper. โ€œI want you from head to toe,โ€ He said in his low and steady voice. โ€œI want everything about you. Your eyes, your lips, your scentโ€”everything.โ€ A shiver ran down my spine at his words. I pushed him away with all the strength I had. The last thing I saw before walking away was the disturbing smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. I pressed a hand against my chest as soon as I was far enough from him. There was something strange about that man. He made me nervous. I had hated the feeling I got from him from the very first moment I saw him. โ€œNurse Valeria, what happened?โ€ Another nurse asked as she approached me. โ€œI looked at her. โ€œN-nothing. I just felt a little dizzy, but I'm fine now.โ€ โ€œYou should sit down for a while. Don't push yourself too hard.โ€ I simply nodded. The nurse continued walking, leaving me standing there alone. It was already seven in the evening when I finally got out of the hospital. I walked toward the street to wait for a taxi when a car suddenly pulled up in front of me. A smile immediately spread across my lips. When I recognized it. The car door opened, and Samuel stepped out. He walked toward me and held out his hand, which I gladly took. He opened the passenger door for me, and I got inside. He then walked around to the other side, got into the driverโ€™s seat, and started the engine. โ€œYou never told me you were coming to pick me up,โ€ I said with a smile. He glanced at me for a moment before turning his attention back to the road. โ€œIt wouldn't be a surprise if I told you. Besides, I'm not taking you home yet. We're going to have dinner at a nearby restaurant first,โ€ He said with a smile. โ€œReally?โ€ โ€œYes,โ€ He replied. โ€œLately, it feels like I barely have any time for you. We're both busy with work, and I just want us to have some time together, even if it's only for a little while.โ€ I reached for his hand and intertwined our fingers. โ€œMy fiancรฉ is really sweet.โ€ He simply smiled at me. Samuel is a chef, while I'm a nurse, so we rarely get a spend time together because of how busy we are with work. Sometimes, when he has free time, I'm the one who's busy. And when I finally have a time, he's the one caught up with work. Our time hardly ever seem to match. He pulled into the restaurantโ€™s parking lot and stopped the car. He got out, walked around to my side and opened the door for me. He held out his hand, which I immediately took before steeping out of the car. I walked into the restaurant together and looked around for an empty table. Once we found one, we headed toward it. Samuel pulled out a chair for me before taking the seat across from mine. โ€œShall we order?โ€ He asked. โ€œSure.โ€ I gave him a nod. I glanced at the man sitting in a corner. His hands looked familiar to me. I canโ€™t see his face because itโ€™s covered by whatever heโ€™s reading. But it probably isnโ€™t him; maybe they just have similar-looking hands. But they have the same tattoo on their hand.
