Author’s Note
For some years, I have harboured a desire to write a story that would salute and encourage our young indigenous and part indigenous children. In my view, the original Australians have, for the most part, received a raw deal from those who have settled here since Captain Phillip sailed to these shores. Our forefathers came to an untouched treasure of immense beauty. For those of whom I write are descended from people who have lived upon this land since a time they know by story and tradition as “The Dreamtime.” For thousands of years, they have kept this continent in pristine condition with not even a scar upon its magnificent landscape. We, who are privileged to also live here, owe a duty of care to all who will follow, to nurture this beautiful land we know as Australia.
