Mission: To Be Rejected By My Alpha Mate

LIRA'S POV

"You are the mate of my son, the lady of this pack. I hope you have not forgotten that you have a duty to fulfill. You and Alpha Zild, should be wed as soon as possible."

The Queen spoke. Her intense gaze at me makes me utterly covered in fear.

I never imagined meeting the Queen on the same day of my return. I came to broke something off and found myself being summoned by the queen herself.

When I left 3 years ago, I knew that I was and I guess I am still Alpha Zild's mate, and that was the reason why I ran away.

I despise Zild. I hated his guts and most importantly, I am already in love with someone else.

So...

How can I possibly tell the Queen that I came back to be rejected and not to be wed?

How can I escape this bond without losing my head in return? I do not want anything to do with Zild. I rather spend my whole life single than be with someone who thinks so highly of himself.

There was a big sound of horn when I set foot on the Starlight pack. My arrival caused such a scene, as if I am someone they are all waiting for.

"SHE IS BACK!" one of the packs' subjects, announced as he excitedly ran around me. "TELL YOUR FAMILIES, SHE IS BACK!" I look at them in horror, my mind's dumbfounded by their reaction of seeing me.

After all these years, I never expected to be warmly welcomed. What I have done in the past was purely betrayal. I ran from my mate— ran from the Alpha.

But my return seems to be a feast to celebrate and not a day to condemn me.

I felt the pack rejoicing as a band suddenly paraded. Flowers are thrown from the villager's windows.

The sight of petals falling exudes warmth all over the place but at the same time, fear crept in.

"At last!" Queen Hera, the mother of Zild, exclaimed. Her carriage stops in front of me. "You are back. You are most awaited, my dear." I gulped and was frozen from where I stood.

The sight of the Queen, stepping out of her carriage just to meet me in person is something to be scared of.

Queen Hera never showed her self much in public so why would she show herself to welcome someone who ran away from her son?

The breeze of the air awoke me and I immediately paid respect to the Queen. "Good Day, your highness. It is an honor to be bless by your presence." I lifted my head a little, only enough to see the man she is with inside the carriage— Alpha Zild.

As usual, his quiet demeanor and icy stare met me.

He did not change even for a bit. Still the cold and full of himself man I met years ago.

[3 years ago.]

"You reek of that smell. How dare you have that smell, peasant!!!" Alpha Zild sniffs me from a few centimeters away.

I look at him, head to toe. The type of look that should not be done to higher ranks but this man is pissing me off. "Excuse me, I bathed. 3 times a day, if you must know. If something here reeks of something, it must have been you, your highness." I mockingly responded.

However, this scent that he has, is the scent I am so afraid to smell from a man— a man that is not specifically MY MAN. The smell of bond.

Only to mean that the man in front of me is none other than the man chosen by the Goddess for me to spend my life with.

I detest!

"Argh! This is so annoying!" He pulled me closer to him, my whole body reacted late and got caught in his arms. His brows are arched, by the movement of his adam's apple, I know that he is acting tough but is actually nervous. "I can read your mind, Ms. To set it straight, I am not nervous. I just can't seem to deny the pull of our bond." He said as he try to brush away his own nervousness.

"Get off!" I tried to push him, our body getting this near will never be helpful for our situation.

His hands tighten around me. "No wolf lower than my position tells me what to do."

His voice stiffen my strenght. "Uhhhm" a soft moan escape as I feel his skin brushes mine and our bond is making me react to this despite knowing that I do not want to.

Zild suddenly hugged me, placing his head on my shoulder. The room fell in silence. I can hear the beats of our heart synchronizing as he takes heavy sighs.

This is just happening because he is my mate. I tried to tell my mind. My heart will not react like this for him, this is all because of our stupid bond.

"Marry Me, Lira." He suddenly spoke. "Save me."

I did not understand how come he needs saving from someone like me— someone lower than him.

His embrace finally soften and I was able to break free by pushing him away from my body. "I cannot. Alpha Zild, please reject me. Reject this bond that we have and let's not ever speak a thing about this. As you said earlier, I am merely in your level."

After that, I left him and left the pack that very same day. I ran away with my lover, afraid that the kingdom and the higher positions would summon me to be his mate.

But after years of being away, I find myself voluntarily coming back to the place I abhor.

Alpha Zild got off the carriage. I compose myself before him. He must not feel my fear or else he will use it to his advantage.

"Why don't you pay your respect to your Luna, my son." Alpha Zild stared at me blankly before he bowed down before me. I bow down in return.

"Your return is most anticipated, my luna." He pulled me close, tilted his head and sniffed my earlobe. "You still have it. I wonder how your life went after running away, I can only wish you had it worse than me."

...I know why you are back and I hope you are aware, this time...I will never let you go."
