ZILD'S POV
"These are too many. Did the King really ordered you to bring this all? At once?." The guard nodded. "Yes, Alpha. He also asked us to give this to you"
He stretches his hands and showed me the bottle he is holding. The bottle is so little, almost the size of my thumb and it contains of something red.
The anti-poison.
"The king said that if you swallowed a poison for today and is too much for you to handle then drink this, to regain your strength and cleanse your body." I scoff, taking the bottle from his hand.
"You may go."
I stared at the bottle. "If you are use to cleanse the body from poison intake then why does my father insist on me taking a test, he could have instead of prepare this bottle for my brother. If these things exist then there is no need for me to test everything for my brother."
My title seems like a joke to me. I am an Alpha. The second son of the King Alpha but my main role here is being my older brother's poison tester. Ever since I could remember, this has been my job. My body— unfortunately was found to be immune to poisons. Even though, I still suffer from its effect. I still feel pain each time, as if everything inside of me is burning...
But none of those matter, as long as my brother is safe from poison. It has been a while ever since the future king's life was at risk. My father gained enemies during battles and most of them are trying to sabotage our pack by trying to kill my brother— the soon to be ruler.
With that threat being said, the King has to do something and that was the time that he had me looked by healers and find a healing substance in my body that could heal myself from poisons.
Before even knowing that, I can sense that he already fixated his mind making me take poisons. He could have ordered someone to be the poison tester but he chose me— his own son. He took the risk to save his favorite one, my brother.
"Maybe, Dad just don't love me as much as he loves my brother. I need to get used to it." I sigh, fixing my utensils.
"Your father loves you. Why would you even say that?" Suddenly a voice appeared— it's mom.
I glance at her and back to my food. "Deal with it, my Queen. The King does not love me and I guess it's okay....I just need to move on from that and continue serving him 'till the perfect poison finally affects my body and take my life." I bluntly responded which made my mother's eye in little tears. "I am sorry. This is all my fault. Your father treats you like that because of the actions I have made. Do not worry, my son. I will make this straight."

[Back to the current time]
"You were away for a very long time." Mom said to Lira. She's sitting in front holding her cup, with obvious trembling of hands. I cannot help but to watch as her hands tremble.
"Yes. Your highness. I was indeed."
"What made you come back? I knew for a fact that you wanted to flee so bad." I sarcastically commented.
There's a burning flame inside of me. I felt pinch of bitterness, knowing that she probably had better life alone than having a life with me and at the same time saving me. Maybe I am thinking selfishly but she was my only hope that time.
And she decided to leave.
She took a quick sip of tea before answering my question. "I need to do something here. That's all I can share your highnesses. "
"I hope that business would be coming back to take your responsibility. We have been kind enough to let you live a life so free for years. My son said you needed that before marriage takes place." Mom looked at me and I nodded in response.
Long ago, I suggested that. She could have had herself killed when she run away but I still chose to save her by asking my parents to give her a chance to experience freedom first before marriage.
She looks at me, with most uncertainty in her eyes. "We all have responsibilities, my Queen. I am just an adult with mine." She responded.
I can clearly sense her eagerness to divert the topic. "I am sincerely hoping that marrying my son is one of your Adult responsibilities. A whole pack is in your hands right now."
"Argh!" I grunted, feeling the side effects of the poison I took earlier. "May I excuse myself, Queen Highness?" I ask, she instantly catches what's happening so she nodded.
She can't see me with that hideous aftermath of my job. "Take your pills with you. Do you need assistance?"
"No. I can manage. This will just take a few minutes and I will be back." I stood up, bow down to the Queen and then to Lira. "Excuse me for a while, my mate. I have an urgent matter to take."
"Please don't be bothered by my presence. I will take my leave later on." She said, waving her hands in cross.
I gaze at her. Deep inside I am wondering why she is very eager to leave me. I can give her a good life.
I stride out and on the way out, I bumb to the human size horror of my life.
"Are you okay?" He asks, placing his hands on my shoulder.
"Fvck off!" I screamed and aggressively shook my shoulder to make his hand fall. My brother raise his hands in surrender. "Easy there. Why are you so grumpy, I am just concerned."
"Don't touch me. Stop acting like you care. You never did, Mike. You can rub off that worry on your face because Father is not here. Aren't you tired pretending? Calm down, I am not yet in my deathbed if that is what you are worried about. As long as I breathe, your body is safe from poisons."
His mouth dropped into a curve of sadness.
"Are you still mad at me because of this? I care. I really do and whether you believe it or not. I care for you. You are my little brother, Zild. I never asked for any of this to happen. The king ordered it and not even me can go against his words and you know that."
I walk past him and intentionally bump my broad shoulder to his.
"If you truly care, you won't do what you did 3 years ago....you think I wouldn't know?"
