LIRA'S POV
If I could ask the Goddess of soil to devour me, I would really beg to be eaten alive now.
Ever since I got marked— unwillingly, by that man, my life became a living struggle. I had to live secretly in order to keep myself free from his grip.
I ran away. I disrespected the whole pack. What is it they are holding unto me that they can't let me go— not even the Queen wants to punish me. In all honesty, I would prefer being punished than to be with him.
After the intimidating encounter with the Queen. I need to face another dilemma— my own family.
Standing in front of the man who raised me for years, who has given me nothing but love.
A loud thud of slap echoed the hallway. "HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACE HERE AFTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!" My father growls as he looks at his palm, the same palm that met my bare face, seconds ago. "Honey, she is syill our daughter" Mom said, giving me a glance.
"She is not. How can she be?"
I gritted my teeth. Hide my clench fist behind my back, indeed an alpha's strength is undeniably strong. I can only accept the heavy hand of my father, for that very same day I chose love, my family had to endure the consequences of my actions.
"You know what pur family went through after she decided to make everything about her. How disrespectful was she when she suddenly did that to us?!!!"
His hands tremble in anger as he points at me. I can only lower my head in response. With all the guilt lingering inside of me, I can accept any beatings that my father would do to me. There is no way that I can change the past.
I betrayed my father and I could not blame him for giving me the slap that he has never even done to me back then.
I am my father's princess or maybe at this point, I was. I can clearly feel that his trust in me was gone that very same day.
"Maybe I spoiled you too much. I clothe you, gave you the life that you and your mom deserve. I never raise my hands at you, not until now. " My mom clung to his hand, stoping my dad from hitting me again.
"I only asked you one thing. One thing and you decided to ridicule our entire family."
"Dad. I agree. I understand your sentiments but you asked for my freedom. You asked for only one thing but that one thing might trap your own daughter to a lifetime hell."
He scoffs, disgust is written all over her face. "Then why are you here? Why are you back? If you are here to make shame of the family name I crafted for a very long time, you are very much welcome to go back to whoever or wherever you went. We don't need a daughter like you."
Hearing everything from my dad, feels terrible. My chest wants to burst open but I remained compose. No one else is to blame but me. I brought this upon myself.
"Dad. Please, forgive me. I came here to make amends. I will explain everything to you. Just give me the chance."
He scoffs— frustratedly. "Amends? You could have done that years ago. I just couldn't understand. I never treated you bad before. I have always been the best father I could possibly ever be."
I gaze at the floor. "Dad. I don't like Zild. I don't want to be trapped in a loveless marriage. I do not want to be with someone just because of a bond."
"You ran away. You know what? I am genuinely curious how the queen faced you and you returned whole to us. She could have had your head the moment you step into this pack. What you did is a grave sin."
I sigh. "I know. However, the Queen don't look like she will punish me anytime now."
"When did you learn to be cocky? Consider yourself lucky, Prince Zild must have done it again."
Even the sound of his name infuriates me. That weird and crazy prince made my life a hell. If he did not mark me then I could have lived a good life by now.
" I am not cocky at all. I am just stating a fact. What are you talking about?"
He looks at me, with all disgust lingering in his gaze. "I am not telling you anything. The moment you decide to abandon us, you lose your family. I could not betray the Prince. You have done the damage quite well already."
"I am your daughter, what do you mean you cannot betray him?"
In the past, my father would fold immediately to whatever my questions and requests are. I acted impulsively and I have to deal with its consequences.
"You were. You were my daughter. I once had a daughter and I lost her when she decided to abandon us." Father said. My mother's eyes are almost teary. When my dad notices, he hugged her. "Please leave. Stop bothering us." He looked at me one last time and kissed my mom's head "Come on, honey. It's time for you to take a rest." Then he turns his back at me.
My hands drop at the side of my body, hopelessly looking at their backs as they walk away from me.
I wonder what my family has gone through to react like this.
At the end of the day, I could not even go back to the place I grew up in.
I have no one here though. The only place I ever know is our house and without that shelter, I am as good as a homeless person.
As I stroll around the streets, I encounter the man I least expected to have interaction with.
"Come with me."
I sat on the bench and put my suitcase down, crossing my hands together as I look to the opposite direction.
When I heard a sudden heavy sigh, I thought he had quickly given up but I was so wrong when he pull me closer and carry me like how the groom carries his bride.
"PUT ME DOWN!!!" I resisted. He only look at me with his pale look.
"What kind of a man will allow his woman to stay alone in the middle of the night?"
I roll my eyes and
If you don't stop right now. I will make you wanna make out to me, right at this instant and in this place. I know you're deprived of heat for a long time so it won't be hard making you feel that."
