Winning her love

1092 Words
Rolf’s Pov I couldn't stop the feeling of guilt that had been weighing me down since I got the news of Diana’s passing. I know I had hurt her deeply, I let my mother and Melissa push Diana to the point of death. When I found out that it was her best friend and not a foe who had planned for her demise, it made me even more infuriated. Diana passed away with such hurt, knowing that it was someone with a dear face that killed her. That feeling is so unimaginable. I had been trying to make sense of my actions, I was so blinded by my mother’s hatred and my sweet memories with Melissa, that I forsaken my destined mate. I did truly care about her and I will forever care about her, I will stop at nothing to win her back. No matter the cost. As I walked through the empty halls of my house, I couldn't help but think about Diana. I missed her, I missed her smile, her laugh, her spark. I missed the way she made me feel like I was her all. I knew I had to make things right between us, but I didn't know where to start. “Hello baby,” Melissa hugged me from behind, she was still my childhood friend but I needed her to understand that I would never be with her as long as I lived. “Lisa, I am busy now. Maybe some other time okay?” She withdrew and stared at me. “Uhm…okay but I will be expecting you tonight.” I hadn't given a response yet before she pecked my cheeks and ran away. I hated the fact that she hurt Diana, but I couldn't abandon our years of friendship. Melissa has always helped me in my times of need, she was a true friend and she will always remain that, that is if she doesn't harm a single strand of hair on Diana’s head again. I remembered how I ridiculed Diana countless times, if she ends up picking Lucian over me I will completely understand. Especially when I know they are in the same space with each other. If I was Diana I wouldn't want to come back to this hell hole anyways. Why would I want to come back to such suffering? The moon goddess has given her a second chance and she will be damned if she misuses it. I wanted her to see how sorry I was, I wanted her to feel my regret and accept me as her mate but I couldn't force her, we have forced her to do enough things she didn't want to do. I was already lost in my thoughts, then I heard a distant yelling. I walked towards the direction as it became clearer, I knew it was my mom's voice coming from the living room. She seemed upset about something. She tried to whisper but her rage couldn't be contained. I moved towards the living room slowly, I stood by the wall to eavesdrop, and then I saw my mom pacing back and forth, her phone pressed to her ear. She was talking to someone. "...you i***t," she was spat. “You had one freaking job, that was to bring the girl here and lock her in the dungeon you fools,” My chest tightened, she was talking about Diana, with no single doubt. The strange man was sent by my mom to kidnap Diana. The instant rage I felt filled my senses. I walked up to my mom and smashed her phone. She looked at me in disbelief. She wouldn't let that poor girl be! I will not stand for it and I wouldn't tolerate anyone else’s excesses. “Have you gone mad?” My mom was flabbergasted. This was the first time I have gone against her words. “Listen carefully, mother. Don't you think about hurting Diana again?” "Rolf, get out of here," she spat. "This doesn't concern you." “No Mom, this does concern me. You're talking about Diana, and she is my mate. You sent a thug after her yesterday and I had to teach him a lesson.” My mom grew even angrier “You killed him! Here I was thinking it was one of her guards,” She paced back and forth, trying to make sense of the situation. "You need to stay away from Diana, far away. All you do is take the life of every bright thing you see,” I stood my ground as I warned her sternly. “Oh you foolish child,” My mom settled down on a chair as she chuckled. “I will do whatever I can to keep her safe,” I added. “I am not trying to harm her, I am only trying to get you what you want but what do you know?” She laughed even louder sipping the tea from the tea cup she had dropped by the side table. “I didn't ask you for anything, you have done things your way for far too long. Now it is my turn to make things right,” My mom's face twisted with anger, she looked like she was about to explode. “You don't know better than your mother,” Her words always seemed venomous, I have been deceived for far too long. I won't hesitate this time, Diana is my priority now and no one can hurt her except they want to go through me. I turned to take my leave, but my mother laughed hysterically behind me. “You are making a mistake by choosing her over me,” She insisted. “Then let me.” I walked out after that, I heard her calling out for me but I ignored them. I would go against anyone if it meant I would be protecting Daina. I also need to warn her, let her know that she was in danger and I will protect her. I couldn't do much for her in her past life, now I am ready to sacrifice all that I can for her sake. I had gotten Diana’s phone number from someone in her pack. I decided to call her because I was not sure I would be allowed to go see her at her pack mansion. The phone rang continuously but no one was picking up. “Diana, pick up your phone,” I said out loud in frustration. “Hey,” A faint voice spoke up.
