Diana’s Pov
I couldn't believe who I was seeing at this moment. Melissa, the same Melissa who wasted no effort in making my life a living hell. She was standing in front of us, her eyes burning with anger and envy. Melissa has always been beautiful, her long, curly brown hair flowed nicely, piercing green eyes always looked so innocent that one wouldn't know how evil she truly was.
"What are you doing here, Melissa?" Rolf asked, his voice firm yet subtle. He has always been gentle with her, if it happened to be another person, Rolf would have lost his mind.
"I could ask you the same thing," Melissa spat, her eyes flashing with anger. "I didn't know this is what you'll be doing behind my back, having coffee with another woman!” Melissa didn't hide her irritation. She referred to me as ‘another woman’ which can only mean that she didn't know who I was. I was triggered just by seeing her. I wanted her to pay for what she did to me. The fact that she was glowing and living her best life while I died, infuriated me.
Rolf stood up, his eyes locked on Melissa's. "Just take your leave now, before I get upset," he said. "You are stepping out of line, Lisa."
Melissa's face turned red with rage. "You're just going to throw me away like that? After everything we've been through?" She vibrated in anger, she wanted to bite his face off. It was both concerning and hilarious to see her like this.
I felt a sting of discomfort. I didn't know what to do, or what to say. I just stood there, frozen, as the two of them argue and bicker.
"Melissa, stop. You're causing an unnecessary scene here and drawing attention to our table,” Rolf was already getting louder and angrier.
Melissa didn't seem to care. She was hurt and there was nothing anyone could say to her because she was driven by her emotions."You're just going to replace me with her?"
“Why are you behaving like a child, and throwing tantrums?” Rolf was not calming things with what he was saying, he was adding fuel to the fire.
“She is not even worthy of you, look at her.” She was saying anything at this point to make herself feel better.
I felt a surge of anger at her words. But I kept my cool, not wanting to escalate the situation.
“You have no right to speak to her like this, I am respecting the moments we have shared. Now leave!” I was shocked to see Rolf speaking to her like this. This was the first time and I loved every bit of it.
“She should be the one leaving here, not me.” Melissa pointed her finger directly at me. She always had this audacity that I envied, she feared no one, and that could also lead to her downfall.
"Melissa, I said that is enough. You should take your leave.” Rolf instructed but Melissa didn't seem to be listening. She took a step closer to me, with a stern face.
“You think you can just walk in here and steal my man? The man I have been with since I was a child, ask around you will know I will make your life miserable if I see you near him again.” She was threatening me right in front of Rolf, she had lost all shame.
I stood there, I couldn't say anything and I felt helpless. I knew exactly what Melissa was capable of, she had done everything harmful and more to me in my past life. I shot a glance at Rolf, hoping that he would do something to intervene, but he just stood there, his eyes locked on Melissa's.
I couldn't believe that I let him wrap me up with this drama. I have a good life going for me already. I am a Lycan, I didn't want to be part of any of this drama that led to my death the last time. I tried to excuse myself from the scene but Melissa held me back and slapped me across my face.
It wasn't until Melissa slapped me that Rolf finally sprang into action. He stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger, and grabbed Melissa's arm.
But before he could say anything else, I slapped her twice as hard on her face. She looked dumbfounded after my action. Rolf just stood there and watched with a grin on his face.
“You think I am one of those girls you can bully?” I questioned as she held onto the cheeks I had slapped. “Don't you dare lay your cheap hands on me ever again,” I forgot I had a say. I had to be reminded by a resounding slap.
Melissa wanted to retaliate but Rolf held her arm, she struggled against his grip, but Rolf held tight.
"Let me go," she yelled.
A waiter walked towards us, I knew we were about to get kicked out for sure, “Excuse me. Please if you will direct this outside, it will be appreciated.” I composed myself, adjusted my dress, and walked out of the coffee shop.
Rolf and Melissa followed suit. Melissa's face seemed to crumple, accepting defeat. She looked up at Rolf, her eyes welling up with tears, and I could see the pain and the sadness in her eyes. Pure joy engulfed me as I saw her in such a vulnerable state.
Melissa turned and ran into her car, leaving Rolf and me standing there as we watched her car drive away.
“What just happened?" I looked at Rolf in search of answers, my voice barely above a whisper.
“You stood up to Melissa, that's exactly what happened,” Rolf chuckled.
“How is this an amusement?” I was already flared up by everything, he was adding to my anger by laughing.
“Be mine, Diana.” My stomach curled, I parted my lips to speak but nothing came out. He moved closer to me, placing his hands on my neck. This sent jolts around my body. He brought his lips closer.
We were about to kiss again.
