Lacking substance

Amelia stood in front of a medium-sized red brick building. It was two stories high and about twice as long. It had been two years since she started living away from the barracks with the rest of the trained militia. By doing so, she had created something of a routine. Every morning, she would wake up, make breakfast, get ready for the day, and head off to complete whatever was on the itinerary. The only issue she constantly ran into was communication. Other women at the supermarket, kids who stared at her, people at the prairie parks, or just walking down the street. It seemed that wherever she went, misunderstandings, and stares followed. Not only because of her form, she was well aware her inability to change her form was infuriating for some. She tried to circumvent some of the stares with regular civilian clothing but that seemed to make people stare more. Amelia wasn't just scary. Her form was downright traumatizing to the folks that were around for the "merging of clans." The Lunares clan had battled, killed, and dominated their clans in these forms. While her comrades could change forms and blend into society much better, Amelia was struggling with the basics. She had once accidentally convinced another wolf he was going to die while she was out for a morning run. She switched to midnight runs after that. Secretly, she hoped that Rusty would place her into a quiet desk job where she could slowly accustom herself to new people and be a quiet, diligent worker. She had no such luck. She sighed and approached the rotating doors of the red brick building, its bold white letters, hanging off the side reflecting the light of the sun. She stepped into a large lobby where a woman with blond hair tied up into a neat beehive hairstyle, sat behind a large desk, greeted her with a cheerful voice, "Welcome to Lunares the Police Station, how can I help you?" She donned a red and white polka-dot dress that was very clean and ironed. She wore light makeup with cute red circles next to each eye to match her dress.
