Fay: Destiny Pt2/2

"What?" I laughed, that was the last thing I expected. His expression told me he wasn't joking. This must be the shortest relationship in the history of dating. "I thought you were selfish and wanted me for yourself?". "I do but that was before I saw how you are with Lucian, how both of you are together" he watched me with sharp cool blue eyes in a way that made him look shockingly like his father- business like and not to be messed with. They dared me to deny it. "Lucian doesn't care for me that way, nor would he ever ask me to court him. We're just childhood friends, possibly enemies at this point, I'm just an annoyance to him- someone to console when I need it at best. We don't have a future". "The way he touches you and guards you from me like a territorial wild cat says you're more than that" he said angrily. My stomach squirmed at the thought. "Both of you" he said as if trying to find the words "it's like you're connected with an invisible cord. He can't help being close to you when you're around. You should have seen how crazy he became when fighting me, he was warning me off in the most effective way possible- by bashing my head in". I suppressed a laugh. "You're the same- you change when you're around him, you stop being relaxed and are on edge all the time, your heightened awareness of him speaks volumes" he said firmly "you probably don't know you do it but you move towards him wherever he is. The moment I arrived I was watching, this room or that you shifted, slowed your walking and moved to be near him. It's his eyes you seek when you think no one is watching. After seeing that terrible vision again it wasn't me whose arms you threw yourself into". My face burned. "Kain I'm so sorry for doing that, it's inexcusable". "No listen, I'm selfish but not cruel, I won't shackle you to me knowing you are meant for another". "God Kain, just punch me in the f*****g face, I deserve it, stop being so understanding!" He smiled a dimpled grin. “I took an oath the day my mother died not to hold onto things out of my control. I refuse to become my father". His comment stabbed me in the gut. Damn. "If you blame yourself for her death one more time Fay I will punch you in the face" he gave me a serious grin "now go". I stood up on my tip-toes and hugged him. "Bye" I whispered. Turning I made my way up the stairs before I tested any more of his patience. I came out of the mirror, walked down the corridor, through the dining room and left the house- making my way home in my usual speedy fashion. As I ran I shook my head at the events of the day. Amber Wood sure wasn't boring.
