Fay: Evolution

Everyone was dancing when I arrived back at the Town Square. The sun was out again and the party was in full force. I ate, played my part, making sure to be seen, appear normal and alluring as could be. I didn't have to do much to draw attention to the jewelry- it glistened in the sunlight more than ever against my white dress and every townsman I danced with complimented me on it as well as my gown. I felt empty as their words washed over me; it stirred not even the slightest emotion. At times like this I fell deep into the gutter- feeling inhuman. A demure fake smile was plastered on my face and I was quickly looking forward to the day being over. As swiftly as the thought had come, candles were being lit and the sun was going down. "Last dance everybody, make it count!" A voice called out, receiving cheers and a rise in chatter. "May I have this dance?". My heart clenched at the familiar commanding voice. A hand opened beside me. I wanted to run for the hills rather than put myself through this test. I looked up into his beautiful dark grey eyes- they were cool and guarded. I had no idea what kind of mood he was in but knew I shouldn't stay to find out. The last time I saw him they promised a beating. Being with Lucian was like stroking a wild jungle cat, or walking into a raging storm- utterly mesmerizing but sooner or later you were going to get fatally hurt. I didn't notice when it happened but somewhere between hearing his rich chocolate like voice and looking up into his mind wiping eyes- my hand was in his and I was being led onto the dance floor. The git didn't even wait for an answer. He smelt of Amber Wood and expensive soap; dressed in tailored clean pressed clothes of the highest quality and fashion. He always looked good and a cut above the rest but for the dance today he had reached another level- like a dark royal knight. When he pulled me against him hard, holding me with an overly tight grip, I received the answer to my earlier thought. "On a scale of one to ten how pissed are you?" I sighed, moving to get away and making it sound like he was an annoyance. Truth be told I was starting to crack inside from the flush contact. He tightened his hold further. People were starting to look so I stopped resisting- making a scene was the exact thing I was trained to avoid. Inside my mind I was clawing at the walls- telling myself to leave as alarm bells rang shrilly through my body. I was starting to sweat and feel uncomfortably warm. My heart rate had tripled the moment I heard his voice and it only intensified when he pulled me tight against his hard muscular torso. Lucian looked down at me with cold, unforgiving eyes. His tantalizing, alluring scent jarred my senses, making me forget I could take him in my sleep. He smiled emotionlessly, a stoic look shrouding his chiseled features as he led me around the dance floor just like I knew he would- precise, experienced and with grace. His grip tightened yet further as we moved to the music. I could literally feel his strong heart beat against my chest. I was lost in his gaze as his eyes darkened into mine. "One of these day's Fay- I'm going to spank the living hell out of you". I felt my pupils dilate in my eyes and couldn't stop my lips from parting. The truth in his voice did something to me; a sinful expression covered his handsome face. He moved closer to whisper in my ear "and the look on your face tells me you'd like it" his tone was significantly deeper and more of a growl- intentionally slow with each word. "That should take away the incentive of doing it...I would think" I said breathlessly, with much delay. "Not if I enjoy it" he smiled wickedly "But you're right, once I'm done I'll do something else...something you definitely won't enjoy". My mouth opened more and I sucked in a quick breath. I got lost in the intense look in his eyes, completely forgetting to breathe. I pushed myself to speak. "You'll have to catch me first Trunks; don't forget I got you on your ass the last time you messed with me". His eyes sharpened into mine. "By the way, you didn't molest me while I slept did you? A girl worries about such things" I was pulling at straws to shake what he was making me feel. He raised an eyebrow. "Call me traditional but I prefer women awake when I do things to them" he scoffed, bending down close to my ear "If I had done something you'd definitely feel it the next day". I swallowed . "You definitely wouldn't be waking straight right now, that's for sure" he smirked at the look on my face. "That reminds me, I should mention I did end up kissing someone that day" I spat without thinking. The song came to an end and we came to a stop as everyone clapped and cheered. "Really, who pray tell had the honor?" his tone was ice. "Me". I turned to see Kain, newly shaven, well groomed and flawlessly dressed. Several buttons were open at the top of his crisp expensive shirt- revealing his broad muscular chest seductively. He was calmly standing there as if he'd looked like that all day- not half alive, sweating on his bed. Lucian laughed harshly. "In your dreams Nemesis". "His name is Kain" I corrected. All laughter left Lucians face. He looked at me, at Kain, then back to me again. "Really?" a harsh mock smile filled his beautiful features, it made him look like Pastor- a handsome man who had every ounce of goodness sucked out of him- leaving darkness in its place. In that instant he morphed from Dark Royal Knight to Fallen Angel right before my eyes. A dangerous energy surrounded him, making the atmosphere electric around us, as if the darkening clouds above were going to part and release lighting in fury. He looked like he was a second from slaughtering the whole town. I was burning up at this point. The fact that Lucian and Kain were in the same place, at the same time and meeting like this, clashing because of me, was doing something weird to my disposition. It felt like the world was going to explode or go out of whack on its axes from the occurrence. Lucian had let go of me by this point. "We're dating" said Kain, folding his strapping large arms, looking like he was thoroughly enjoying himself. "You're not helping" I shot back at him. The next thing I knew they were colliding like wild bulls- going at it right there in The Town Square. Most of the town had gone home and thankfully only a handful of people remained to witness the violent turn of events. Shocked screams broke out from the women at the display and blood splattered on the ground in seconds. "This was a long time coming" one of the guys watching whispered to his friends close by, moving his female companion back- out of the away. Kain's enhanced strength was unparalleled but he was nowhere close to healed and on top form from what he had just gone through. Lucian was doing a frighteningly good job, I couldn't believe a human could fight like that, his moves were so brutal, so violent and ruthless that it shocked me on some level that he fought like that. Kain however was Werewolf now and took the hits like they never occurred. When Lucian got hit for the first time the pain was disturbingly apparent; his face strained and he quickly grew much slower. It felt like I had received the blow myself and instantly felt the wind knocked out of me. Flashes of my nightmare came back in full force- making it hard to breath. I started to shake uncontrollably on replaying Lucian's death. I moved back against a lamp post, I was pretty sure I was having some kind of panic attack and forced myself to make my way into the forest. A sharp pain in my gut made me stop mid route and lean against a tree in desperation to stay up. A pain filled moan escaped me before I could stop myself. "Fay!" Kain yelled out. He had stopped completely and was looking my way. A ruffed up Lucian got in a bone breaking punch but didn't make a dent on Kain's Lamia fortified body. He looked my way the moment Kain screamed my name, watching as I slid down to my knees, curving over on my hands and knees. I clutched at my cracking ribs, blinding pain shooting through every cell in my body as I saw stars. "Don't even think about it!" Lucian growled through his teeth at Kain. His whole aura was so menacing and savage Kain actually listened for a few seconds. "Stay" I whispered, knowing he would hear it. I got up with every ounce of strength left in me and ran into the forest. Whatever was happening to me I needed to get as far away from anyone who could see. I was planning on running further than I got but my body had other plans. A brutal 'click' shot though my spine making my vision black out. I fell flat onto my front on the grass- reeling to the point I couldn't even scream when I tried. My body bulked and grew while my newly expanding size filled with an overwhelming sense of power and strength. My undergarments and dress ripped off of me as thick, strong, animal muscles covered my arms and legs. My hearing, sight and smell all sharpened to a level I never deemed possible and I looked down to find black glossy fur the color of darkness covering every inch of my skin. I was an actual mother f*****g She Wolf!. Holy mother of hell! When it was over I couldn't help but panic. My mind was trapped inside this mighty beast and I couldn't get out. "Duck!" Lucian's voice called out urgently, he wasn't mad, his use of my nickname told me that but I couldn't let him see me like this. Just as I moved to leave he came into view and looked right at me. Fuck! Sharp grey eyes looked down at my ripped white dress and Safire jewelry on the grass. The earrings had popped out when my body grew and the chain ripped off at the same time as my clothes. It was blatantly obvious the clothes had been torn off human me rather than the beast I had become eating me. "Fay?" he said quieter, taking a step closer slowly. Fuck, he knew! and I ran. Panicking and wanting to get back into my own body, I ran to the only place I knew would help. Just before I got to her door she opened it. "It's about time you showed up, come in" the girl witch said, pulling it wide for me. I was huge, my back level with the top of her head and I barely fit through the door. I bounced around the room in agitation, knocking things over, heart pounding faster than ever- panic reaching an all time high. I felt trapped and claustrophobic while simultaneously having more energy in a single swish of my tail than I knew what to do with. Oh my god I have a tail! It's so weird controlling another appendage. "It's okay, try to relax" she soothed "I figured it was going to happen soon, I could feel your unstable energy at the Church. Come here" She opened her arms, her beautiful young face and wise brown eyes told me I was in the right place. I hurtled towards her and positioned by head in her arms. She was knocked back into a chair by my boisterous energy and proceed to stroke me unruffled, making calming movements in my fur. "That's it...relax...good. Focus on my calm heartbeat. What's happening to you is perfectly normal" She said slowly and calmly, continuing to stoke slow caresses over me "Every species evolves to a higher level of being; even Witches come in different shapes and sizes, surpassing others in magic as they grow. Something triggered your change; normally intense heightened emotions bring on the beginnings of it. You've probably been stopping it before but whatever it was this time must have been a doozy" She said in thought "Have you been feeling exhausted recently?, overly emotional or hot" I looked up at her confirming what she was saying "It's all a result of your changing cells and hormones during the mutation. Your body has been preparing for this, testing your limits- like practice contractions before a woman goes into labor". She smiled at whatever expression I must have made. "I'm probably not making any sense but don't worry, I have a sixth sense about these things, it's a gift passed down in my family" she said comfortingly "you're a new being now, the first true Werewolf" she said with a smile "it really is perfectly normal". Slowly I felt cold. I looked down and realized why- I was naked. "When did that happen?" my voice was slightly horse. "A few minutes ago, I didn't want you to change half way so kept my mouth shut" she smiled. I was still on my knees when she got up and moved to get something. "I change back when I'm calm?" I said softly, to no one in particular. "You could probably change whenever you want but that's for you to practice" she said, covering me with a blanket "I've never met a She Wolf before" she looked at me in awe. Oddly enough I wasn't embarrassed by my nakedness. It was like being in front of a sister- if I had one. "Why weren't you scared of me? I could have killed you" I said sitting up on the coach. "I'm not scared of death Fay" there was a sad look in her eyes before she looked away into the fireplace which was in full flame. I was silent for a few seconds. Neither was I. "I don't know your name". "Lea" she said with a warm smile. "Thank you Lea, for being there for me". "Thank you for stepping in at the church, I really wasn't in the mood to play along with them". "What happened to your parents? If you don't mind me asking". It was obvious everything she said at the church was a lie. I wanted to know why she was this way, I wanted to understand her- to help her. She was there for me at such a frightening time and I had the sudden urge to fix everything hurting her and repay her kindness. "I killed them" she said tonelessly, sitting down next to me. I stared at her, taken aback. "They meddled in magic that was vastly beyond their abilities. Power and strength, once you have it, is like a drug. You feel invincible when you get a taste and keep wanting more. In the end it possessed them, they become something...something else, I had to end them before they took my life". "They tried?". "Yes". "Wow, I'm sorry. You shouldn't have had to do that, no one should". "People like us shouldn't have to do a lot of things we do, it's all part of being creatures of the night, to survive- or at least that's what I tell myself". "We don't have to be what our parents are, we can live however we please, we can leave". "True, but that doesn't stop a scorpion having a poisonous tail. It can decide to be a bird one day, go up into a tree and live with them but that won't stop it stinging them to death by accident or by nature at some point". I smiled. "You must be a blast at parties, I like you". She laughed. "It's true, we are what we are. When we deny that and go against the grain the universe fights back- it's not natural". I thought about this for a while. "What was that crazy s**t you pulled with the chickens?" I said with a smile "what was that about?" I put on a voice. She grinned, looking her age for once, she must have been 18- the same age as me. Her ice blond hair made her look like a forest fairy. "He's such an old toot, I normally mess with him for the hell of it but yesterday I had a spell to finish. She paused for a second, taking in my face as if deciding if I'm trustworthy "I did a love spell" she said softly "I've been alone here for weeks. Grieving, stewing in my own self pity; I couldn't take it anymore, I wanted something to live for- someone to live for". She looked up at me from talking to the rug, it was the first time she looked like a girl- a lost girl "The spell is complete with an offering and ends with the sighting- when I see my true love" She explained "The Lamb was my sacrifice and after the offering I was supposed to get a sign to help me know who he is but for the life of me I can't figure out why the chicken coup caught fire. It's normally cryptic, the signs I mean, but this is just plain annoying". "Maybe he's a chicken farmer?" I grinned. "God help me" she grinned back. "Or he likes to eat chicken?". "Who doesn't" she laughed. I smiled then stiffened. Lucian's scent grew stronger by the minute until he was a few feet away. I stood up abruptly. Moments later the door burst open.
