LILY'S POV
My face turned pale the moment I saw the figure emerging from the elevator. He was clad in a pair of f black suit this time around, fully dressed. He took long strides closer to me and my heart thumped, threatening to jump out of my chest.“You thought you could pull that stunt and get away with it?” He asked, glaring daggers at me. I wished the earth could open up and swallow me at that moment. My legs were wobbling and I glanced at the receptionist for help but she seemed more scared than I was. The attention of everyone was on me and it became so awkward.I could hear the whisper from the crowd and each statement I heard only intensified my fear.“Oh my….. Isn't that Brandon Barrett!! He's so handsome!” “I can't believe, I'm seeing Mr. Barrett, Gosh!!” The ladies were squealing and I shut my eyes tightly the moment he got so close, too frightened to meet his gaze.“Seize her!” He ordered the bodyguards and my pupils dilated. “No! You can't kidnap me in broad daylight, I did nothing to you! Let go of me!” I yelled helplessly as the bodyguards grabbed my arms, leading me out of the hotel. The crowd flashed their cameras and words couldn't explain the embarrassment I felt. “Let me go, you morons!” I hollered wiggling out of their grip but my efforts were futile. They were much stronger than I imagined and I was like a toddler in their hands. They led me towards a Lamborghini in the parking lot and threw me into the backseat like a sack of grain. I banged the door continuously, hoping anyone could help but it seemed everyone in the hotel was scared of him and I wondered why. He got into the car and settled beside me with his gaze on the road as the car got in motion and zoomed out of the premises. His countenance sent chills down my spine but I knew I had to plead for my life. I haven't had an encounter with this man but he seems like one not to be trifled with.“Sir— I'm sorry for what I did back there. I know– I know I shouldn't have done that, but— I was just—”“I hate noise. If you must talk, tell me who you are and how you got into my room.” His stern response and cold glare made me adjust in my seat. “I– I– wasn't stalking you. The receptionist made a mistake, I booked a room and she led me to yours.” I tried to explain.“Blake, how true is that?” He asked the guy who was seated beside the driver and the latter was silent for a moment.“Boss, that's the report the receptionist is giving.” He reported and I heaved a sigh of relief.“Are you rejoicing? You must be sick to think I'll let you go scot free after the stunt you pulled back there.” The relief I felt vanished in a split second and my sense of security heightened the next moment. At this critical moment, a loved one should know of my whereabouts. I reached out for my phone to call Cassie and realized it wasn't with me. In fact, I was with nothing.“Where are my boxes? My bag, my phone? Where are they?” I asked with squinted gaze and he didn't even spare me a glance.“I need to get my boxes, I have important stuff in there. Let me go, there's nothing I can offer you. I know I hit your—” I paused, too embarrassed to complete my statement and he flashed me a glare that screamed “Speak no further.” All I wanted was a serene environment to relax and clear my head. A lot happened in these past two days and I needed time and space to escape reality which was why I left Cassie's place. If I had known I would land in the web of this monster, I wouldn't have left. I became so frustrated and I could no longer keep sane. The car rattled along the road at high speed and my stomach churned. I was exhausted and emotionally drained.“Why are you being heartless? The only crime I committed was stepping foot in your room. Why are you hell-bent on frustrating me? Do you think I fancy being in your presence? All I want is peace and space. Let me go! Is this how you go around oppressing people simply because you're rich?” I vented out my frustration as I let my emotions cloud my sense of reasoning.“Is that all you have to say? Come on, say more because when I'm done with you, you won't be able to utter one more word.” He threatened and I challenged him head on.“I'm not scared of you! You're nothing but a wealthy jerk oppressing the less privileged because of your financial status. I'm not scared of you, get that into your head. You're nothing but a weakling who exerts his strength on women!!” I reeled off without pausing to grasp my breath. He bawled his first tightly and his knuckles whitened. The deadly glint in his eyes sent shivers down my spine and I shut my eyes tightly. The atmosphere became tense and I felt like slapping myself for letting my emotions control my tongue. He was so furious and I didn't know what to do at this point. My entire body trembled and I felt the car grind to a halt.
