BRANDON'S POV Everything about my trip to New York was frustrating. I never wanted to fly down to this city and I regret not following my instincts. Firstly, it was a failed business meeting and now, an encounter with this crazy bitch.I didn't trust her, even though she seemed innocent. Her innocence could be a tool of deception and at this stage of my life, I knew no one could be trusted.I tried to tolerate her excesses and go easy on her but she seemed to have a sharp tongue and venting my frustration on her would solve the puzzle. I needed to wrap up the last conference with the board of directors at Redridge, one of the Barretts holdings and I alighted from the car with Blake, shooting her a deadly glare before leaving her in the custody of my bodyguards.I walked into the reception and as usual, heads turned just to catch glimpses. I could hear whispers and the ladies’ endless squealing was getting annoying. I only visited Redridge once a year and they always had similar reactions whenever I visited.Without sparing them a glance as usual, I entered the elevator and went straight to the conference room where the board of directors were already waiting for me. I took my seat with my head high and the meeting proceeded. They could wrap up the meeting in my absence but this board of directors seemed to be obsessed with my presence. While the meeting went on, I kept glancing at my watch from time to time, waiting for it to come to an end.“Mr. Barrett, what do you have to say about that?” Mr. Flynn, one of the biggest shareholders in Redridge asked and I glanced at Blake to come to my rescue. I wasn't paying attention to all they had been saying.“Mr. Flynn, I think you should go further with the reports. Mr. Barrett would love to hear the entire round off before making a decision.” Blake chipped in and I heaved an internal sigh of relief. The latter nodded and continued from where he stopped and finally, the meeting came to an end.I glanced at Blake again and he understood the assignment, rising up to his feet immediately. “On behalf of Mr. Barrett, I want to say thank you for your unwavering support towards the development of Redridge. You've been a huge part of this great company and he sees you all. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the luxury of time as we have somewhere to be in a few minutes but everything discussed here was noted and Mr. Barrett senior shall get every detail.” With this, we exited the conference room and I was amazed by how he was able to pull that off. I wasn't surprised because I opted for the best when selecting a personal assistant. We went back to the parking lot and a form of excitement surged through me, knowing there was someone to vent my frustrations on. “Boss, where are we headed?” Blake asked.“Back to the hotel.” I responded.“What!?” She screamed at the top of her voice and I raised a brow at her.“What sort of stupid charade is this? Do you think I have nothing reasonable to do with my time? What am I now? Your escort? You better take me back to the hotel and let me have my boxes!!” She hollered at the top of her voice and I ignored her. From the look on her face, it was obvious my silence was doing a lot of damage and I loved every bit of it. Every woman who has gotten the chance to explore my body, worshiped every atom of it and she dared hit my member? How audacious! She kept throwing tantrums till we got back to the hotel and I paid deaf ears, leisurely scrolling through my phone. We arrived at the hotel and she gripped the edge of my suit the moment I was about to leave her in the custody of my bodyguards again. I found her confidence rather amusing and I smirked for a split second, glancing at her slender hand wrapped firmly around my coat hem.“Let go of me,” I voiced out calmly and she scoffed. My bodyguards wanted to do their jobs but she glared at them like she could hurt a strand of their hair and I chuckled at her doggedness before asking them to stand back.I grabbed her wrist and tried to loosen her hold on my suit but it was surprisingly firm. She stood akimbo with her hold still on my suit. “You aren't going anywhere till you grant me my freedom. I'm not a prisoner, I didn't steal from you, nor did I commit any offense.”“Allow her to get her boxes from the reception–” She let go of my suit immediately and my bodyguards didn't stand in her way.“Keep an eye on her, I still have unfinished business with her.” I ordered the moment she walked into the reception and they nodded in agreement. I left for my room with Blake behind me and I quickly proceeded to freshen up.“Tell them to bring her in and retire for the day,” I instructed Blake after changing into a pair of casuals as I sipped leisurely from a glass of wine. He left to pass the information and returned shortly with a pale expression on his face. “Boss, we couldn't find her.” Blake reported and my gaze darkened.“What do you mean? I asked them not to let her out of their sight.” He hung his head low with his signature remorseful look whenever he committed an offence. “Go back there and search for her. Don't return without finding her.” I ordered and he left almost immediately. I waited impatiently for their return and after an hour, Blake returned with Jim and Jack, panting heavily.“We've searched everywhere she could have possibly gone to but we couldn't find her boss, it seems like we underestimated her,” They muttered and I felt like leaving a merciless punch on their jaws. I gripped the glass firmly as I brewed with fury. “You fools! How could you let her out of your sight? Just a petite lady you couldn't handle. How useless can you be? I fired at them furiously, gnashing my teeth at their incompetence.“I'm sorry boss but it was just for a split second,” He went further to explain and his explanation riled me up to a greater extent.“Go in search of her, I want you to find her before I leave this city tomorrow.” I ordered with a stern gaze and they glanced at each other before scurrying away from my sight.I slammed my fist against the headboard, ruffling my hair in an attempt to feel better but none of it was working. ‘That b***h! She thinks she can run away after all she has done? I must find her and make her pay.’
