"Miss Tori, are they still coming?" One of Victoria's students, Ava asked, as she pushed a piece of hair that had fallen from her bun behind her ear.
As still and poised as the entire class tried to remain as they waited, Tori could tell the 7 to 10-year-old boys and girls in attendance were struggling to sit still.
"They are, I don't know what's keeping them. But in the meantime, how about I play some music and you guys can have a few minutes of free time?" She suggested as she stood.
Met with a chorus of 'yes's', Tori smirked as she pressed play on her phone, watching as the children sprang to life doing whatever their hearts desired as Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish played.
As much as she adored being a professional dancer, being able to teach gave her almost the same rush.
She adored her students as well as the company she both danced with and worked for.
Today they were expecting a visit from a few players from their home team, the Boston Celtics, as a part of an outreach program for children of all walks of life across the city, and although her children were more than rebounds, they were excited, to say the least.
Tori had become so caught up in watching her students move, she hadn't realized the tall figures standing in the hallway of her studio accompanied by Margaux, the company's director.
"It's nice to see you having fun, Tori!" She spoke over the music, gaining her attention, making her turn off the music and all her students stop dancing.
"Hi, I was just keeping the kids busy while we waited." She smiled, hoping the words that tumbled from her mouth before she could properly word them didn't come across as rude.
"That's fine by me, but let me introduce our guest for the afternoon. These are Jaylen, Grant, and Jayson of the Boston Celtics." She smiled, holding out her arms to invite them further into the studio.
"Nice to meet you all." Tori smiled before her attention was back on her students as she directed them to sit down on the matted floor so they could introduce themselves to the players one by one.
Tori had no expectations of the experience being as fun as it was. Watching the players interact with the kids as they attempted to teach them a contemporary piece she'd introduced them to weeks ago.
While her attention stayed fixed on the task at hand, she failed to notice the eyes of the players that had been subtly trailing up and down her petite, yet curvaceous body since they'd first arrived.
However, one pair of eyes observed her a little harder than the others. He watched the way she interacted with the kids, the way she'd smile every time one of them tried in their way to teach him and his teammates the dance routine they'd been trying for over an hour to lock down.
"I think that might be it for today." She smiled as she clapped her hands together, gaining the attention of her students.
"If you'd like something to drink or a snack, help yourselves to them at the back of the room. You guys were all incredible today!" She gushed.
"Thank God, I'm so fuckin' tired." Jaylen breathed out to his teammates, careful not to let any of the children hear his foul language.
"Right, I feel like I just put in work at the gym. I need something to eat and a nap." Grant laughed as he dabbed the sweat that had gathered from his forehead.
Although Jayson could hear his teammates clearly, his attention was set elsewhere as he watched the dance teacher he now knew as Tori, as she began to pull the mats the kids danced on from the middle of the floor.
"Did you hear what I said, man?" Jaylen asked, placing his hand on Jayson's shoulder, finally grabbing his attention.
"My bad, huh?"
"This nigga, over here daydreaming about the dance teacher." Grant teased, being conscientious about the volume of his voice.
"Man, shut up." Jayson dismissed his friends, sucking his teeth.
"I got to admit, you're on to something. She's bad as fuck." Jaylen smirked as he eyed his friend.
"She is." Grant agreed. "And I know I taught your ass better, go and ask her if she needs any help." He coached before gently pushing his teammate in the direction of Tori. He and Jaylen mouthed words of encouragement to their teammate before he turned on his heel to walk to the other side of the room.
Across the studio, Tori tidied away as the students left the studio to go and change so they were ready to be picked up by their parents in the next ten minutes or so.
"Can I help you with anything?" Stopping in her tracks as she bent down to pick up the final mat and take it to the corner of the room, Tori looked up to find one of the basketball players standing in front of her.
"Not really, after I move this. I have to mop the floor, but if Margaux found out I had you do that, she'd mop the floor with me." Tori joked, making Jayson laugh as he tried to subtly study her features now stood closer to her.
"Thank you for offering, I'll finish cleaning up once everyone has left." She smiled.
Without a doubt, he was one of the most handsome men Tori had seen in a while, but she was at work.
The "It's the least I could do, I had fun today." Jayson smiled, making Tori feel a little hot under the collar if she was being truthful.
"You sound surprised?"
"I am, dancing isn't my thing at all. My mama said I was born with two left feet." He laughed, making her do the same.
"You're a professional athlete, it seems to me like you got on amazingly, two left feet and all!"
She was hilarious, Jayson thought to himself as they continued their conversation. In his profession, it was seldom to speak to a woman about anything other than who he was to the world, never just Jayson.
He had to have her number, or at least get her i********:. She left a little too good of an impression.
Just as he fixed his mouth to ask, the studio doors flung open, and in walked Tori's students, followed by Margaux, who was back to thank the men for coming, unknowingly stopping Jayson in his tracks.
He wasn't sure how or when, but he knew he had to see her again.
