SEVEN CINCINNATI, OHIOThe Monarch second baseman tossed the ball to Robinson. “Go two, Jack!” Jackie Robinson stomped on second, kicking up a whiff of dust. He saw a clear view of the black Cincinnati Clown runner bearing down, attempting to break up the double play. Robinson quickly took the relay from his teammate, pivoted, and instead of throwing on a line to first, he deliberately rifled the ball right at the runner’s head, knocking his cap off. It still wasn’t enough to stop the runner from ramming Robinson. Spikes first. The runner had been out to get Robinson all day, sliding too hard the last time into second.
