Sara “I can’t believe how cute you were.” I playfully poke my tongue out at Bastian. He and our parents sit on the sofa, Mom between Dad and Bastian, as they look through the photo album I brought. “I’m sorry, there aren’t many. Jill and Paul weren’t big on photographs.” Mom shakes her head. “This is perfect. We get to see you grow up through these pictures, and I couldn’t have asked for more.” They’ve seen me as a small child, my first Christmas without them, my first lost tooth, and so much more. My family missed out on all of those precious moments.
