Burning heart chapter 7

Haileys pov

"Hi boss" it sounded from the door when it opened, a man with brown short cut hair, well trained and of course dressed in black entered the bedroom. He had 3 large stuffed bags in each hand. He gave me a smile " hello hailey how are you doing, where do you want these?" He smiled at me.

His tone was friendly as if we had always been friends. Nathan answered before I could even answer.

"Just place them here next to the bed."

He put them down, he looked at me and held out his hand. "Hi hailey my name is Steven I have waited so many years to finally meet you," he said with a twinkle in his eye. I gave him my handshake " hi Hmm steven, nice to meet you." I was a little out of my Place, everyone seems to know me and I don't know anybody here.

" Steven is my best friend we went to school together" nathan interrupted my thought

I nodded understandingly " but you Are now his boss?" I asked

They looked at each other and looked at me and then Nathan said " yes, yes i am. Steven is my right hand man in everything I do."

"What are you doing then?" I asked him questionably.

" It does not matter right now,'' he answered me," the most important thing is that you are here now and that you are well." "Okay" I accepted that He didn't want to answer that right now. My mind went back to the previous Day and what happend, and that's when I thought about julie.

"Julie" I suddenly exclaimed and jumped out of the bed, but I couldn't stand on my feet so of course I fell. Nathan managed to grab me and sat me back on the bed. I started to panic " where is Julie?'' I said with tears in my eyes." I'll have to call Julie where's my phone."

" Calm down," Nathan said and took out my little handbag which he had put next to the bedside table.

" She's probably fine", he replied.

I took my phone out of my bag and opened 5 missed calls from Julie and 3 messages

No. 1: What Are you doing, why aren't you answering.

No. 2: I hope you enjoy yourself Girl, and you have given him a chance, you deserve some happiness in your life ?

No. 3: You scare me now, why do you not answer? Alex can't get a hold of Nick either, we have been to the hotel and they say you have not been there, where are you, you are not home either and Nick is not home either.

I sat paralyzed and looked at my phone

A tear rolled down my cheek and then I quietly said. "you didn't find me at the hotel"

"Yes I did," Nathan answered " why?"

" Julie writes that they have never seen us there, I don't understand." My whole body started shaking and some kind of panic started spreading.

Nathan took my hand in his and with his lovely dark mysterious eyes he looked at me" trust you me babe, you were there, and we saved you okay"

I nodded. Because deep down I do trust him more than anything else.

"Call Julie and say that Nick dropped you off at home, but that you went home to your parents and that you will probably have to explain it all to her when you meet again. I'll tell you everything tomorrow but not today you need to rest."

I nodded at him and I couldn't do anything else. So I took the phone and dialled Julie's number, and then I took a deep breath.

" Hailey finally. What are you doing? Where Are you? Are you okay?"

" I'm fine, I'm with my mom and dad. I just needed to get away for a few days and think a little, sorry I didn't let you know until now."

"That's okay hailey I'm just glad to hear you're fine, do you know where Nick is," she asked me

" No, he dropped me off at home,'' I said in as calm a voice as I could," I don't know where he went afterwards."

" Okay she replied I'm just glad to hear you're fine. When are you coming home" she asked me.

" I don't know yet I answered her, I will take a few days up here."

"What about your work?'' she asked me.

I totally forgot about my work. With everything happening.

" I will call and report in sick, you don't have to worry about me,'' I answered.

"but I have to run now. I will call you tomorrow."

" Okay," she answered me.

" If you hear from Nick then tell him to call Alex because he's worried about him."

"Okay," I answered her. " I'll talk to you tomorrow."

"We do, greet your parents," she said before she hung up.

"I hate to lie," I whispered.

"I know that, but it's for the Best, you did well." He said

"I think I Will go now, and then I will come by tomorrow when you feel a little better, so I can greet you properly. It was Steven, I nodded at him " thank you"

before he left he looked at Nathan "do you need anything else?"

Nathan looked at me, " What's your Best friend's last name?" I didn 't even think about what it was he was asking me so I just answered him " Valentine."

Nathan looked at Steven nodded and said " no we can handle it, I will call if we need you."

And then steven left

"You need to lie down and relax, so we can have you on your feet again soon" , he said with a little flirtation in his smile.

" Okay, I just have to call and report sick to my boss, otherwise I Will just lose my job and I can't afford it,'' I replied.

" I'll do that for you, where do you work," he asked me

" No, you don't have to" , I said " I can do it myself."

But stubborn Nathan never lets anything go so he took my phone from me and with a smirk He said, "well then you must be fired because now you have no phone." I rolled my eyes "okay fine, you can make the call. I work at a casino named Diamond. My boss is called sylvester."

He gave me a smile and got up.

" Give me 5 minutes, I'll go and make the call and then I will get you a glass of water and some more painkillers for you."

I nodded "thank you" and then I lay down again in his big King size bed.
