I dared to open my eyes. I took a breath in then out. I swiveled to see if my fingers could get purchase on the clip of my seat belt. I tried feeling for it, then felt a hand. Michael. I squeezed it gently but there was no voice just heavy breathing until, "Audrey, Audrey?" His voice was there, just weak.  "Michael, Micheal we have to get out of here", I said finally finding the button on the seat belt. I pressed it then braced myself for the fall forward on what was left of the windshield. I wince and at the same time, I hear sirens in the distance coming closer and closer. I'm suddenly transported back to the night dad died. The darkness, the shattered glass, the blood, dad's still body. My fingers shook as I tried to grip the door handle but all I can see is red.
