He’d only just got her safely in his truck when the first of the sleet started. He ran around and got into the driver’s side, pulling the truck out of the parking lot and towards the hidden outcrop.
Luckily it wasn’t too far away. Riley was silent since he had caught up with her. She seemed to be in a state of confusion, though he could clearly see that she didn’t seem to be afraid of him, at least. That had to count for something, right?
He stayed silent while he drove there, wanting to face her completely when they had this conversation both because he wanted to see her reaction, and he wanted her to see he was telling the complete truth.
