Jake held my gaze with an apologetic look on his face, acting like he hadn't cast me aside weeks back.
“Then you left me to the mysterious hands of Fate. What if I had died in the process?” I asked, genuinely curious as to what he was going to tell me.
“I know I should have done better, I'm sorry.” He apologized again.
“So what are you trying to do now? I hope you are not trying to win me back.”
“No, I would never do that. You've already found the one who completes you, and you're happy with him, which is something that I want for you……” He paused to take a quick breath.
“..... I'm just trying to clear the air so you'll forgive me. And maybe there's a tiny bit of me that's hoping that we could start over again…..as friends.”
“Friends?” I asked, my tone dripping with sarcasm
