Janice woke up with a massive headache. Her body felt sluggish and heavy. ‘Why am I so heavy right now?’ She thought as she tried to move her legs. They refused to get underneath her. Getting her eyes to fully open she tried to look down at her feet. The problem was her head was in some sort of contraption keeping her from moving her head in any direction at all. When her eyes finally adjusted she could see that she was laying on a table. It had holes that allowed her legs to hang down. The contraption around her head almost looked like a box but it was shaped more to her head and did not allow any movement at all. The only benefit was that it was completely see through and she could glimpse around the room. Directly in front of her was a desk that had a computer on it that did not look really high tech, in fact it looked like it was made back in the 80’s. She remembered her mother having one and called It a dinosaur. behind the computer she could see the walls and they were an off white color that reminded her of a hospital wall. The far left wall was covered in bookshelves and had all sorts of binders and books. The opposite wall had other shelves that held specimen jars that were not empty. Janice couldn’t make out what was in them, but the lone specimen jar that was infant of her help what looked like the starting of a fetus. She wanted to cry, that was no way for any child to end up. What seemed like hours of her just looking at walls, she heard a door open. She couldn’t see it but she realized it was because the door was out of her view. A shuffling of feet told her that the person was directly behind her. They didn’t walk forward right away. Janice started to feel scared. She didn’t like. How long they were standing behind her. They made her feel like she was being looked at from an angle she dan’t want anyone to look at. After a long moment of silence they finally stepped forward. “Hello mutt,” The voice said. It was a male voice, and it sounded like it had been chain-smoking cigarettes for years. She bet that he didn’t but he sounded it. She refused to move and refused to look at him. “You’ve been out for a while, I wondered when you would wake up?” The man came into view. He couldn’t be any taller than 5’8 with sandy brown hair, Brown eyes and ivory skin. His facial expression was not nice at all. It reminded her of a fox getting ready for an attack, but not before he started to play with his prey first. She would say more like a wolf but the look in his eye told her he was more interested in making sure the prey never knew what happened to it. He moved to the computer and turned it on. She could see that he was typing something in but could not see exactly what he was typing the screen and the keyboard was angled away from her that all she could see that there was a keyboard. She watched as his face went from a sly fox to a kid at Christmas as the computer made a dinging noise. He looked at Janice and the smile turned into a look that was a mixture of excitement and craze. She could feel her self become even more scared as he walked forward and whispered “You’ll do just fine.”
Andrea sat at the window and watched as the patrols crossed paths with a second patrol around the hospital. It had only been a day but she was getting worried about Janice. She had run off after Andrea had given the ok for her to leave when they were discussing the things that could happen. She was starting to get worried. While she watched another patrol pass by 10 minutes later a knock came at her door. “Yes?” She asked. “Its me,” Kathy said on the other side of the door. “May I come in?” “Come in.” Andrea responded. She had not moved her eyes away from the window even with Kathy coming in “I’ve been thinking about what you said yesterday.” Andrea said after Kathy closed the door. “Something isn’t right.” “Still haven’t heard from Janice have you?” Even though Kathy did not get along with Janice, she had made a complete 180 in Andrea’s eyes and tried to make up for how crappy she was to her. Right now was no different. As Andrea turned to look into her eye’s she could see the concern that Kathy held for her. The Fear that something had happened, and they had not found out what it was yet. Andrea shook her head and looked down at her hands. She felt it was her fault for not looking for Janice after they had left the hospital. “Do you think she’s ok?” “ I hope so.” Andrea said finally pulling away from the window. She sat down in the little living area with Kathy and Sipped on the tea that had been brought up 20 minutes ago. The tea was now cold but it was something for Andrea to do. “I’m going to go look for her.” Kathy finally said. Her looks of concern turned into dedication. “I already have a few of the patrols looking for her,” Andrea said “I sent them out after she didn’t come home last night.” Kathy’s face dropped and nodded her head “don’t worry,” Andrea said taking one of Kathy’s hands “They’ll find something.” “I hope so.” Kathy said and she squeezed Andrea’s hand back.
