“Hello, Walken,” said Charyn. “You’re late tonight.” “Yes.” “We’ve been talking about having a housewarming party,” said Nona cheerfully. “Oh?” “Yes. The workers are through. The painters and paperhangers finished yesterday.” “They hung the most gorgeous paper in the new family room,” Charyn told him. “You really must see it, Walken.” “And I’ve got a professional cleaner to come out early next week to clean up the mess that all the workmen left behind. So, the house will be clean and new. And I really can’t impose upon your hospitality forever.” “It’s no imposition at all, Nona,” said Walken. “No imposition at all. You’ve been wonderful company for Charyn all these months.” “Especially when you’ve been out of town,” said Charyn. Walken disregarded her comment. “Well, thank you,”
