Chapter 25

1155 Words

Dylan's POV There hasn’t been a single moment of peace since that girl arrived. It's like she dragged a cloud of misfortune with her, a walking curse disrupting everything. I lie back on my bed, closing my eyes, hoping—just hoping—that I can catch even a few minutes of sleep. But no, the universe isn't that kind. The door bursts open with a loud bang. My eyes snap open, and I groan the second I see who it is. Vanessa. “Look, whatever it is, it can wait till tomorrow,” I mutter, sitting up, already exhausted by her presence. “Tell me it’s not true?” she demands. “It’s not true,” I answer flatly. “Do you even know what I’m asking?” Her voice rises with frustration. “Don’t know and don’t care,” I reply, even though I do know exactly what she’s talking about. She’s talking about Anna.
