Chapter 74

1199 Words

Anna's POV I hear Dylan scream just as the men grab me and toss me into the boiling water. The instant my skin touches the scalding heat, pain explodes through me like fire eating away at my flesh. I cry out—not in fear, not in weakness, but in a call. A name. Destruction. Suddenly, everything goes dark. The sky above shifts as though night has fallen, even though it’s still day. Wind howls from nowhere, fast and cold. I hear the men shouting in panic. “I can’t see anything!” “What’s going on?!” But I can see. Strangely, in the darkness, my vision sharpens. I see everything. Every blade of grass. Every terrified expression. I don’t feel the pain anymore. The water that moments ago was cooking my flesh now feels cool and calming. Like I’ve stepped into a quiet lake, not a boiling pot
