Escaping Mr Grayson

It has been a long and exhausting day for me. I have just settled in to my new place that my auntie and uncle bought for me. At least I still have a place to stay after my father sold everything that we have.

My new place is not so big but it is pretty much comfortable to stay. It is a one bedroom small house that they got for me. The flooring is pretty much hardwood with a little walk in closet. A kitchen with wooden cabinets. It also has a small living room with glass sliding door that leads to a small patio where you can have a perfect view during the sunny days. The place is pretty far from our old house but it is close to shopping areas and restaurants.

I opened the glass door to my living room to check in the patio. There were ornamental plants already placed on each corner and a table and love chair on the centre of it. I sat on one of the chair and look up. I can see the clear blue skies right through the glass above me. I stared at the sky as I remember everything that happened yesterday.

I still can’t believe that everything that I used to have is gone. In a snap of a finger, we lost our company, our house and everything that my mom left for me. In a blink of an eye, I was sold to the heir of the Grayson Group of Companies. Everything happened so fast.

When my father told my auntie yesterday that Mr Grayson will pick me at our house today, I panicked. I’m not ready to meet the man nor get married, I haven’t enjoyed my life and I never plan on marrying someone I don’t know and someone I don’t love. I was just thankful to my auntie and uncle that they got me a place so I can sneak away from Mr. Grayson.

After a moment of staying in the patio, I was brought back to reality with the sound of my phone ringing in the living room. I went in and checked and see that it was my auntie calling so I answered it quickly.

//hello//

//hi dear, have you settled in already?//she asked with a worry sound on her voice.

//all of my things are here already, I have just started un packing some of the important things that I will need//

//well that’s nice to know ahm...//she trailed off, I know there is something she wanted to tell me.

//what is it auntie?//I asked feeling worried about what she might say.

//Mr Grayson came here today. He wasn’t expecting you wouldn’t be here though// she said.

//did he say something? Did he hurt anyone of you?// I asked. I would be worried if he try to hurt anyone of them especially my auntie because she’s pregnant. As for my dad, I hate him but he’s still my dad.

//no dear. He did not hurt anyone of us here but he doesn’t look so pleased. He then actually left after he has settled something with your dad and didn’t bother ask about your whereabouts.//she said reassuringly. I felt relieved knowing that they are safe.

//by the way, we will be going now, everything has been settled already and we’re all good to go back home. I will call you when we get home dear, okay?// she said. They will be going back to their home now with my dad in Canada. I said my goodbyes to them. After talking to my auntie I started unpacking my things and started arranging my new home the way I wanted it to look. I kept myself busy that I didn’t notice the time. It has been past 3pm when I finished everything and I am starving. I don’t have time to cook so I just ordered pizza. The estimated time for my order to be delivered will be about 45 minutes so I decided to took on a quick shower and change to comfortable clothes before my order arrived.

My order arrived shortly after I changed on comfortable clothes. I placed the box of pizza on the kitchen counter top and I ate it as I was still looking around my kitchen. It was then that I realize I needed groceries, but then I will need a job that will help me with my monthly dues so I decided to look for a job after eating.

I sat on my living room with my laptop on my lap searching for any job opportunities. I sent an application to any job vacancy that I think does fit my skills.

When I felt that my eyes are tired, I shut off my laptop and decided to take a little nap so my eyes can rest.

It was almost 5pm when my cellphone rang. I fell asleep on my living room. With my eyes still closed, I searched for my phone and then quickly answered it when I found my phone.

//hello, who is this?//I asked. I then hear a lady on the other line.

//hi, I am looking for Miss Sinag Wilson//

//yes, I am Miss Wilson//

//I’m sorry if this is kinda late, this is Diana Ramirez of the MGCI, we received your application in our company for the position of managing assistant, we would like to confirm if you will be able to come for an interview tomorrow?//I was then awakened by what the lady on the other line said.

//yes, yes, I will be there. What time is the interview?// I then asked as I stood up.

//thank you for the confirmation, I will be sending you the details for the interview tomorrow right after this call.//

//alright. Thank you so much// the lady then hung up and shortly after, I received a text message containing the details of the job interview tomorrow.
