26 My heart quickened at the sound of that wonderful voice. Ward, however, was less than pleased as he crossed his arms over his chest and turned toward a nearby tree. “You are trespassing.” Shade stepped out of the shadows and blocked our path back to the house. His yellow eye glowed brightly in the gloom of night. He once more wore two gauntlets that shimmered beneath the starry sky. “And you’re kidnapping,” Shade retorted. A sly smile slipped onto Ward’s lips. “I believe she walked here on her own two feet.” “I wasn’t the one moving them!” I snapped.
