Twenty four year old Georgina browsed her academic records to check how many units she have left on her Master's degree in Engineering Management since she took additional loads last semester. Her phone rings and she can't tell why but her palms are suddenly sweaty as though the call she's getting is about the board exam results. As she checked her phone, she sees that the call is from Madrid.
Georgina moved to California to pursue her studies in Stanford University. She had been in California for five years now. She travels home to Madrid every Christmas to see her family.
"Baby, I think you should answer that", a soft voice came from behind her.
While in the university, Georgina discovered that she is not attracted to men. She since then fell in love with her roommate Bianca. She hasn't told anyone about it except her sister Ramona.
Georgina snaps back and picks up her phone. A jittery voice can be heard from a British old lady.
"My dear, it is best that you come home as soon as you can. A devastating turn of events had happened. Y.... your, your father, your father has passed away last night", Mrs. Whittaker mumbled over the phone.
Georgina almost dropped her phone as her hands shook. She stared blankly while tears fell from her eyes.
"Baby what's wrong? Baby? What happened?", Bianca asked.
"I will be home tomorrow", Georgina said in a faint voice before hunging up.
The bright lights of the stage flashed as twenty three year old Cassandra entered. Cassandra was handed a bouquet of red and white roses which mimicked the theme of her autumn line collection. Six beautiful and elegant dresses paired with six suits were displayed on twelve models behind her .
After finishing fashion school in Paris, Cassandra then travelled to New York to launch her own brand Sofia Gracieuse, named after her late mother. After all, Cassandra got her love for fashion from her mother who dressed in the most graceful way when she was alive.
Cassandra headed to her loft before going to the after party of her launch. While in driving her car started ringing. "Answer phone", Cassandra said.
"Mrs. Whittaker! What a pleasant surprise! How are you?", Cassandra cheerfully exclaimed even though she felt exhausted from her launch.
The voice that answered her though sounded the complete opposite. Mrs. Whittaker told her the news about her father.
Cassandra pulled to the side and parked her car. Both hands on the wheel, Cassandra softly cried while whispering "Daddy, this can't be happening, please tell me this isn't true".
Meanwhile, in the Devonchiego mansion, twenty year old Ramona sits on Stella's bedside holding her hand. The now eighteen year old Stella has not moved from her bed after hearing the news about her father this morning.
The director of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry from Switzerland has contacted the family to deliver the news. Mr. Devonchiego was supposed to meet with them to discuss a new project. He then flew on his private plane to Switzerland at around 5am that morning. His plane crashed against a mountain. The authorities said that the cause of the crash was a mishap in the plane's engine. The authorities also confirmed three bodies found; Mr. Devonchiego, the pilot, and his personal assistant Marcus.
"Stella, please, I need your help in all of these", Ramona exhaustedly said but only sobs were heard from Stella.
"Ramona dear, I have called your sisters and informed them. They will be arriving tomorrow however their time of arrival is unsure yet", Mrs. Whittaker said.
"Thank you, Mrs. Whittaker. Please rest now as we have preparations to do tomorrow. I have prepared jasmine tea for you in the kitchen to bring to bed. I hope you're doing fine", Ramona caringly replied.
"Oh dear, don't worry about me. It is you girls I am worried about, especially my dearest Stella. It is the hardest on her", Mrs. Whittaker said.
