Chapter 2 - Play it hard to get

Semper walked towards the kitchen and opened the fridge the moment he reached his own house.

'What was that?'

He thought to himself.

"Something's bothering you?"

He almost choke as his bestfriend, Vishnu suddenly appeared with his bag of gummy bears all of a sudden.

"What the hell are you doing here Vishnu Denzel?"

Vishnu Denzel, His bestfriend and one of the major investor of both the Nexus Group and the Fausters Group. He's also Athena's acquaintance.

Vishnu just arched his eyebrow, putting more gummy bears on his mouth and spoke.

"So what is it?"

He ignored Semper'a question and asked him again. Semper shrugged his shoulder.

"None of your business. Just a small problem."

He said, putting the water bottle that he just emptied on the trash can and taking another one from the fridge.

"And what is it?"

Semper looked away, trying to think of some excuse that would satisfy Vishnu's nosy side.

"Remember Karen Brewstone?"

"The obsessed woman who kept following you? The one that started your fandom and ended up being a bunch of stalkers that mobbed you on the airport? The one who made you feel scared and uncomfortable? She hurt you just to take pictures and just touch you. That's really bad. She's so scary. What's with her?"

Semper nodded his head.

"She kept calling me yesterday. It's so annoying."

He said. Vishnu rubbed his chin to think of how to get rid of her.

Suddenly, Semper's phone rang.

He looked at the screen trying to figure out who is the caller but then Vishnu took it from his hands

"If it's not the ugly b***h? YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU SHOULD REALLY f**k OFF WHILE I CAN STILL CONTROL MY-"

Vishnu stopped talking as he heard the voice from the other side of the phone.

"...... Uncle?"

Semper facepalmed the moment he realized Vishnu was talking to his father. Vishnu froze on his position like a stone.

"Ahh- No- it's not you-... I was mistaken. I'm very very sorry. I'll give the phone to Semper now."

He threw the phone to Semper's direction and shoved gummy bears unto his mouth just to shut himself up.

"Yes dad?"

Semper answered.

"What's wrong with Vishnu?"

"Ahh nothing. Don't mind him."

Semper glared at Vishnu's direction.

"Why did you call?"

He asked his father.

"You already know why."

Semper's expression hardened. Vishnu noticed it and moved closer to hear what they are talking about.

"Is this about that girl?"

"Yeah. Why did you do that?"

"I did nothing."

"Exactly. You did nothing."

".... What am i supposed to do?"

"Oh god son. Are you playing dumb or you're just too clueless?"

"Neither of the two. I did nothing wrong."

He said, leaning on the kitchen counter. Vishnu frowned his forehead, trying to decipher what are they talking about.

"You just dumped her!! You think it's not wrong?"

"Well, it's for her sake. What's wrong with it?"

CEO Arthur Fausters sighed on the other side of the phone.

"Look, Son. You should at least know her first. I know she's on the tough side but i promise you. She's worth the time. Ask her out. I'm sure you'll like-"

"Oh there's the pizza delivery. I'll hung up now dad."

Semper glared at Vishnu who swallowed all of the gummy bears on his mouth.

"Pizza Delivery!!-*cough cough! "

Vishnu shouted trying to change his voice but failed because of the gummy bears stucked on his throat.

"I know that's Vishnu, son. Please give her a chance-"

"Talk to you later dad. Bye."

He hung up the call after he bid his goodbye.

"What was that?!! You dumped someone?!!!"

Vishnu looked at Semper as if he's proud of him.

"I didn't. There's no love interest on the first place."

Semper looked at his direction with an arched eyebrow.

"Ohhhh really? Not at all?"

Semper glanced at his direction. Vishnu shrugged his shoulder.

"So who is she? From a famous family too? What's her business lineage? Is she cute? Hot? I wanna know!!"

Sempet rolled his eyes and think of the best description for her.

"You remember our university dean?"

Vishnu nodded his head. Thinking about the old lady on her glasses and gray hair, always have her eyebrows arched and nagging at every student she'll see.

"You mean that single lady on her menopausal stage that's why she's so salty with everyone?"

Semper nodded his head. Vishnu laughed.

"Like her."

"That's awful! HAHAHAHAHA!"

He laughed. Semper hissed, finding his laugh very annoying.

"Mr. Benzel, what the hell are you doing here inside my house anyways?"

He asked the latter. Vishnu's eyes widen up as if he just remembered something.

"Ow shoot. I forgot to tell you."

Semper walked towards the sofa as Vishnu spoke.

"I fvcked up."

Semper turned around, Meeting Vishnu's widened eyes.

"Don't tell me you got someone pregnant."

He hopped on the sofa and chuckled. Vishnu followed him.

"No way, I always use protection."

Semper glared at him. Vishnu chuckled at him finding him ridiculous.

"You know i'm kidding right?"

Semper eyes even grew bigger.

"You are not using protection now?"

"Asshole."

Vishnu rolled his eyes. Semper chuckled at him.

"So what is it?"

"I just spilled tea on Alexa's homework and she's mad at me now."

He said, pouting.

"And...? Why are you here?"

"I want you to help her out making it again."

"You can do it yourself."

Vishnu shook his head.

"No waaay! she isn't even talking to me right nooow. I know she' ll like it more if you were the one to help her."

"And why is that?"

Vishnu smiled mischievously.

"Nothing~"

"I'm calling the security."

Semper stood up and walked towards the telephone. Vishnu followed him.

"Yah semper! you're really calling the security to dump your bestfriend?"

Vishnu yelled at him. Semper turned around, looking at him blankly.

"Yeah."

Vishnu facepalmed and pulled him away from the telephone.

"Please just this once. Help me with this one."

Vishnu pleaded. Semper sighed,

"Fine."

He sighed, he doesn't have any choice. Vishnh is a tough rock. He doesn't know when to give up. Semper turned around and walked towards his room to change his clothes.

"We need to think of something to make him agree to the proposal. We need to close the deal..."

She whispered to herself, looking at semper's profile scattered on her table.

"Dig deeper on him Cain. Make sure to take smaller details this time."

She said to Cain without even looking.

"Don't you think you are already going overboard?"

Cain asked her. She tilted her head.

"He's playing hard to get. I'll make sure to catch him no matter what."

She said, portraying no emotion on her face despite throwing a strong phrase.

'Semper Fausters... I'll make sure to capture you no matter what.'
