Claimed By The Enemy

My heart pounded wildly against my chest as I stared at him. Alpha Lucien. Of all the people I could have run into… it had to be him. His grip on my wrist was firm—unyielding. Like I wasn’t going anywhere. “Let go of me…” I whispered, my voice trembling despite my effort to sound strong. His eyes darkened slightly, studying me like I was something rare… something he had just discovered. “You’re shaking,” he said calmly. I clenched my jaw. “I said let go.” Instead of releasing me, he stepped closer. My breath hitched. He was too close. Too dangerous. “You were just rejected,” he murmured, his voice low and almost… amused. The words stabbed straight into my chest. “Don’t…” I swallowed hard. “Don’t say it like that.” His gaze sharpened. “Like what?” “Like it doesn’t matter,” I snapped, my emotions finally spilling over. “Like I’m nothing.” Silence fell between us. For a second… I thought I saw something flicker in his eyes. Anger. Not at me. At them. “You’re not nothing,” he said quietly. My heart skipped. Before I could respond, a sharp pain suddenly shot through my chest. I gasped, my knees buckling as I clutched at my heart. The rejection bond. It was tearing me apart from the inside. “Ah—!” The pain was unbearable, like my soul was being ripped in two. I collapsed forward— But strong arms caught me before I hit the ground. “Damn it…” Lucien muttered under his breath. He pulled me against him, his arm wrapping firmly around my waist. “You’re weaker than I thought,” he said—but his grip tightened protectively. “I’m… fine…” I whispered, even though I clearly wasn’t. My body trembled violently. His hand suddenly moved to my chin, tilting my face up to meet his gaze. “Look at me.” I hesitated… but obeyed. His eyes locked onto mine, intense and commanding. “Forget him,” he said. My breath caught. “You don’t get to decide that,” I whispered. A slow, dangerous smile curved his lips. “Oh, but I do.” My heart raced. “Why do you care?” I asked, my voice barely audible. His expression darkened slightly. Then he leaned closer—so close I could feel his breath against my lips. “Because…” His voice dropped into a whisper. “…from the moment I touched you…” His fingers tightened slightly around my waist. “…I could feel it.” My heart stopped. “F-feel what?” His eyes glowed faintly in the darkness. “The bond.” My breath hitched. “Impossible…” He smirked. “Nothing about you is ordinary, Isabella.” Suddenly— A loud growl echoed through the forest. We both froze. Another presence was approaching. And I didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. Alpha Xavier. Lucien’s arm tightened around me instantly, pulling me closer to his chest. His expression turned cold. Dangerous. “Well…” he muttered. “Looks like your past isn’t done with you yet.” My heart pounded in fear. Because something told me… This time— I wasn’t the one being rejected. I was about to be fought over.
