I went through all the files, and they seemed to be ledgers and documented accounts of the business Gary did for them. There is a very long list of names of people with abbreviations next to it. It obviously means something. I just need to figure it out. The more I see, the angrier I get. I searched for the abbreviations, until I got the information I needed.
“Dom, I need your help. I have some files on Lopez, and it doesn't look good. He isn't just into human trafficking, but harvesting black market organs too.” I say when I call Dom. “Where did you get the information from?” he asks, and I explain. “So she was sitting with intel that could've freed her from him, and she didn't know." "Yeah, did you find out anything on Carl? He went through a lot of trouble to save her,” I say.
“I didn't find any associates named Carl. Maybe it wasn't his real name. And without a last name, it's even harder to track him down.” “s**t! Okay, I need to send you the list of names. I have a feeling these are victims.” “Hang ten, I will be there tomorrow.” “Are you sure?” “Of course, I have some vacation time due. This is bigger than we expected. Plus, I need to meet my niece, and I am excited to meet this woman too,” he says, making me frown.
“Why?” “She clearly has you tied up in knots. Don’t deny it. I will see you tomorrow,” he says and hangs up before I can respond. “Is everyone around me turning into assholes?” I say out loud and shake my head. I save all the files on my laptop and then go in search of the others. I find them still in the lounge, talking and laughing, while Trish is feeding Zia and Slider is sitting way too close to her.
“We are going to head out,” Dagger says, getting up, and pulling Cookie with him. “Are you leaving already?” Trish asks. “I actually have a shift in a bit, so I will see you tomorrow,” Cookie says and Trish nods. “Come on Slider. Let the boss spend some time with his daughter,” Dagger says.
Thank God for Dagger, I am sure he saw that I was not impressed. “I will swing by when I have time. Make sure things at the bar are running smoothly. I havent checked on them in a bit,” I say and he nods. “Sure boss, I got you.” he answers, and they say goodbye to Trish, and head out. Slider, however, put his arm around Trish to hug her goodbye.
Her smile immediately faded when they left. She didn't even look at me, she just busied herself with Zia. I poured myself a drink, before I sat down opposite her. “Are you okay? I am sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to upset you. But I see Slider already comforted you,” I said after she put Zia in her crib, and was about to walk away.
“What are you implying?” “You just seem very close. Is there something between you two?” “No, he is my friend and a sweet guy. Contrary to what you may think, I don’t just go around f*****g everyone that is nice to me,” she says and continues walking, clearly angry. Damn it Rebel, you put your foot in it again.
I put the drink down and reached her in a few long strides. “Trish, wait,” I said as I took her arm and spun her to face me. She looses her balance, but I pull her close to me before she falls. “Please don’t be mad at me.” I say softly as I hold her in my arms. I can’t bring myself to let her go, even though I know I have to.
“I am not mad, I am just sad. But now I know what you really think of me,” she says, trying to free herself, but I am not ready to let her go just yet. “You know nothing,” “I think I do. Clearly you think I am a slut.” she counters, making me frown. “No, I don’t. You are sweet and kind, and you have been through too much in your life.” I answer, and she frowns.
“Then why would you ask me that?” she asks, trying to break free again. “I said I am sorry,” “I don’t believe you. You clearly were implying that…” she says, but I cut her off. “I was jealous, okay!” I yelled and let her go. “Why? You don’t even like me. I am just here because you have a hero complex and feel like you need to save me,” she says, folding her arms.
“I do want to keep you safe. But you are here because I want you here. I like having you here.” “Really? When I was staying at the clubhouse, you did your best to avoid me. So you clearly don’t like being around me,” she says with one eyebrow raised. This woman is a real firecracker.
“Let’s just call it what it is. You feel obligated to help me, but you don’t need to. I will stay and look after Zia until you find a suitable replacement. Then I will leave and absolve you of your duty,” she says and turns away. I grab her again and turn her around. “You are not leaving!” I say, and she laughs darkly.
“I can do what I damn well please!” she counters and pushes me away. Oh, no you don’t. I grabbed her, pulled her into me and kissed her. What the f**k am I doing? But, I can’t bring myself to stop. She doesn't kiss me back, she seems to be in shock. I break the kiss and look at her. “Sorry, I…” I say, but she cuts me off by kissing me.
I pulled her against me and kissed the hell out of her. This woman is pure sin with the face of an angel. I put my hands under her ass and lift her up, and she immediately wraps her legs around my waist. I started moving to my bedroom, without breaking the kiss. Her hands are in my hair, pulling at the strands, and it's turning me on even more. Our kiss is frenzied and full of need.
My d**k is rock hard in my jeans, begging to be set free. I have never wanted a woman as much as I want her at this moment. When we reached the room, I broke the kiss and kissed her neck as I lay her down on my bed gently. I continue a trail of kisses, as I untie my jeans to relieve a bit of the restraint.
“If you want me to stop, tell me now. If this goes any further, I won’t be able to.” I say when I stop kissing her. “Don’t stop. I want this, I want you,” she whispers, making me smirk. “Careful what you ask for, amore,” [love] I say, and kiss her again.
