Cass opened her eyes feeling pain everywhere. Oh man what the hell had happened. What did she remember? Try to sort through her memories and ignoring the throbbing that started at her head and ended in her toes, Cass began putting the night back together.
She got off work at WitcheSex but had hung around talking to a customer about some rare books she was interested in. After that she had decided to go to Witches Brew. Sabella had tried to talk her out of going making some very true and valid points but something was nagging at her. She had to go, needed to go. She did a quick touch up on her make-up and drove her Audi to the bar. The street was crowded and she just didn't have the patience to wait to pull into the front parking lot so she pulled around back and parked next to the alley leading to the back door of Cauldron.
When she got inside she grabbed a vacant bar stool and ordered a mojito from the bartender who had to be Mike. He called Sabella on his headset to inform her of a visitor. As soon as I saw the look on her face when she saw me I knew she was upset. For some reason my dear friend did not want me here tonight. We made some small talk then she went back into Cauldron. I finished my drink and was going to order another when I spotted the vampire with red where the whites of his eyes should have been. A drainer easily spotted by the red eye and called so due to the fact they drain their victims of everything; blood, energy, and soul. He was taking a girl out the front door of the bar clearly with the intent of draining her. Not happening.
What then? Damn my head hurts. Let's see after I spotted the vamp with the girl I followed them out. As I started walking around to the back parking lot I found the girl standing on the side of the building smoking a cigarette and looking pissed off. Passing her I went to the parking lot and moved toward my car where I spotted the vamp down the alley. I walked down the alley intent on a quick kill. Then six demons appeared out of nowhere. I know I took at least two down. After that things got hairy in the sense that I got my ass kicked. After being thrown into what I now know was Sabella things get hazy. I know she took out one demon and was trying to help me with the vamp but then I got tossed into a wall. As I was laying on the ground I could feel this presence. It was so strong and it made me feel so safe for just a second then it was gone. After that I vaguely remember telling Sabella to get me home and some of her lecture on the drive. At some point she was standing over me and talking again and the Graces were there then nothing until now.
"Hey there Cassady. Hell of night you've had. Scarred the s**t out of us girl. How you feeling?"
I looked over to find Marcel sitting in a chair next to me.
"I've been better. My head is killing me. How you and your brothers can throw each other into walls and call it fun is a mystery to me." I said starting to sit up.
The door opened. Oh s**t.
"Cassady." was all she could get out in an exasperated tone thick with anger, worry, and relief.
"Hello Mother." Someone was gonna get their ass kicked for calling her.
"What happened Cassady?" she demanded when she realized I was okay enough to talk.
I gave her the short version that skipped over the bar being owned by a vampire. When I was done I looked at Marcus. "Where is Sabella?"
"Listen to this s**t. Your friend is straight up bananas! After she got you here Draco, Kaeleb, me, and my bros took her aside to get the low down on what went down. She told us basically what you just said. So Draco grabs her arm and she flips. Does some crazy quick move and the next thing we know Draco is on the ground pinned with her boot heel in his spine and his dagger at his throat. She made him swear she would be brought to you and remain with you until she knew you'd be okay. After that she said she would let us kill her without a fight. It gets better. After the Graces healed you she went downstairs and cooked. Like for the whole house. Some good s**t too." He finished looking both excited and still amazed by my friend.
"WHAT!? Where is she Marcus?! She can't die!" I was frantically attempting to get up with a lot of protest from my body.
"Whoa girl you're not supposed to be up. You.."
"Where is she Marcel?" I spat putting every bit of venom in me into the words. I managed to get up and start hobbling towards the door.
"She's in Dracos office."
My mother stepped in front of me.
"Unless youre going to help me down the stairs move." Shockingly she helped me.
Once we got to the second floor landing I spotted Calista outside the door. Oh goody this was just not my night.
"Cassady I heard you'd been hurt. I came to offer my healing powers to you." she said trying to look concerned and failing. So not in the mood for her fake ass right now.
Calista was right on the borderline of worlds most annoying, fake person. Being the only witch in the house made her think she was invaluable and all powerful. Hardly. The fact that she thought she was special because she was the only witch Draco had ever permitted in the house made it worse. Couple that with her thinking that made her special to Draco and her obvious lust for him and she was a red headed, over confident pain in the ass. Who I didn't have time for.
In response to her I said "Uh, huh. Thanks. Move. I need to get in there."
She moved aside and letting go of my mother I threw open the doors. After a breif moment of solidifying that Sabella was not going to be killed and giving her the short version of my visions I needed to sit. But no. I opened my mouth and told the room she Sabella was a witch.
