Mr. Pissed Off looked at the triplet who wanted to keep me and said to escort me to Cass. As long as I got there I didn't care who took me. I was led from the side room back to the foyer and then began accending the stairs. As we started to climb he kept looking at me out of the corner of his eye.
I stopped and looked at him. "Is there something you'd like to say?" I asked simply.
"No." he said quickly.
"Okay." I replied as I started moving again. At the landing to the second floor he started talking.
"Alright maybe I do. You've got a serious set of balls girl. You put a dagger to the throat of the strongest immortal I've ever met and not just any dagger, his dagger. Plus you got the jump on a guy whose got at least a few feet in height on you and a hundred pounds easy." He had a slight look of aw on his face that made me want to giggle.
"He pissed me off." I replied looking at the triplet. It was the truth he made me mad. When I get mad things happen.
Looking exasperated at me he half laughed "He made you mad?! That's all you got?"
"Yup. It's the truth." We started up the next set of stairs. Silence. It makes me twitchy.
In a very quiet voice he asked "Were you serious? I mean about being okay with dying?"
Still walking up I said "Yes. I mean don't get me wrong I don't want to die but if it's my time, it's my time. I'm at peace with my life. I know I'm supposed to be here and if the purpose of me being here is to die then I'm good."
"You know youre meant to be here? How?" he asked.
I shrugged my shoulders. "I just do. Same way I knew if Cass came to the club tonight something bad would happen. I get these feelings or intuitions and they're never wrong. I trust them and go with my gut feeling. Learned that lesson the hard way a long time ago.
We reached the top of the stairs on the third floor and began down the hallway. About half way down we stopped in front of a solid wood door on the right. I could smell the blood already. Knocking as he opened the door Marco triplet #3 announced our presence.
Once again I was smacked in the face by the smell of blood. It was strong outside but overwhelming once we got in. I could see Cass's form laying motionless on the bed in the corner of the massive room. There were several beings that I had never seen before surrounding Cass. Some of them were in what looked like ceremonial robes while others wore traditional medical scrubs.
"Ladies, this is Sabella. She is to stay with Cassady." the triplet said then turned and closed the door.
I looked at the ladies. One looked up at me and studied me as we locked eyes. She then motioned for me to come closer. Slowly I moved forward to were the woman stood beside Cass. She was still covered in blood and from the scent still bleeding. The lady I was standing next to as well as a few others were trying there best to stop the bleeding while the others were chanting in a language unfamiliar to me. The woman who had called me over pulled up a chair and motioned me to sit. In a trance like state I obliged. Reaching out I grabbed her hand and silently pleaded for her to stop bleeding and live. She was so pale. Past even my skin tone.
I don't know how long I sat there. When I looked around me most of the woman had left. The one who initially called me over to Cass was still standing and dabbing Cass's wounds. She looked like she was about to fall over from exhaustion. I stood up and grabbed the gauze.
"Let me" I touched the woman's arm. "You sit a while." She just looked from me to my hand on her arm. Gently I eased her toward the chair and started to tend to a wound on Cass's abdomine. As I was changing the dressing I started talking to her while the woman sat down. "Cass honey, I know I said that I was done with the lecture when we were in the car but I'm not. I was willing to overlook the fact that you didn't listen to me and came to the club but that was provided that you got better like instantly. Bring me home you said. My doctor is there you said. I was thinking this was like espresso. Go to house, the definition of which we will discuss later, add Cass, instant better. Hate to be negative nancy but you are definetly not better. That's a deal breaker for me overlooking the club incident. Now if you stop this crazy bleeding and open your eyes and I'll overlook everything. I'd even forgive the fact you slammed into me and made me hit my head." I felt eyes on me and looked up to find Mr. Pissed Off watching me leaning in the doorway. The woman next to me jumped to her feet.
"Sire." the startled woman said still finding her feet.
"It's alright. How is she?" he asked.
"We can't stop the bleeding and she hasn't started healing. Not even the small wounds and cuts." the woman looked distraught.
Mr. Pissed Off looked down at the floor. "Is there anything we can do?"
Looking desperately she replied "If we only knew what weapon caused the wounds. If we had that then we would know how to heal her."
That stopped me right in the middle of dabbing a nasty gash on Cass's head. "Wait!" I put down the gauze. I reached down and pulled up the hem of my dress and reached in the pouch of my garter. Mr. Pissed Off raised an eyebrow. Boys.
"Here." I said as I handed it to the woman. "I'm not sure if all of the attackers had the exact same one but this one got thrown at my head."
Grabbing the dagger the woman told Mr. Pissed Off she would consult the others and left. He nodded and entered the room closing the door behind him. He pulled up a chair opposite me and took a seat as I went back to tending to wounds.
He sat silently watching me tend to Cass. Silence again. Makes me twitchy. My nose wrinkled as a small gush of blood came out of Cass's arm.
"Blood freak you out?" he asked.
"No not the blood it's self. I don't have a problem looking at the blood. It's the smell. It always makes my nose wrinkle and gives me a headache." I said temporarily stopping the blood flow.
"So why are you doing that?" he asked with a scrunched brow.
"She's my friend. Probably my best friend. If I can help her in anyway I will no matter the cost to me." I told him.
I looked up to see a look of what might be respect on his face. Then I said "I'm sorry by the way. I shouldn't have lost my temper I just really don't like being restrained. Even though you pissed me off when you did it I'm still a guest here." Hey I can admit when I've behaved badly.
There was that flash behind him again. He opened his mouth to say something when a young lady dressed in robes came through the door. She was carrying a small bowl with her.
"We know how to heal her." she said coming around to my side of the bed. I moved out of the way to the foot of the bed so she could do her thing. Mr. Pissed Off rose and said "keep me informed." then left.
I watched the young woman as she tended to Cass spreading a salve onto all of her wounds. When she paused a moment I asked if there was anything I cold do to assist.
"If you would hold the bowl I could apply the ointment faster." She handed me the bowl and began working faster using both hands.
"May I ask you a personal question?" I asked the young woman.
Looking at me from the corner of her eye she nodded.
"What are you?"
She stopped and looked at me. "What do you mean?"
"I'm sorry I meant no offense I've just never seen a supernatural being like you." She was one of the more interesting beings I'd ever seen. Her hair was a vivid blue with skin and eyes that looked like pure gold. She sucked in a breathe.
"You see me as I truly am? My true form?" she said completely stunned. Shaking herself she began working again.
Moving with her to the opposite side of the bed I said "Yes. I can see all beings in their true form. Unless they have a serious cloaking spell cast on themselves. Whoever cloaked Cass did a phenomenal job because I had no clue."
"That is an interesting gift you have. To answer your question I am a Grace, a healer. I am a more traditional healer using the old ways and wearing the traditional robes. Some of the others wear medical garb but are also Graces but they use the old ways and modern methods as well." When she finished applying the last of the salve she said she would return with the others then left. Moments later she returned with several other Graces who surrounded the bed and began chanting again.
"Here." she said as she handed me scrubs and some flip flops. "I didn't know what sizes to get so they might be big. The shower is straight through that door everything you need should be in the bathroom already."
"Thank you." I said to her. "My name is Sabella by the way."I began walking to the bathroom.
"Mia." she replied.
Off I went to wash the blood off.
