Unyielding Love

Chapter 2

Elena smiles at the people leaving the building. She sees how the kids were running towards their parents' car and driving off. It was her daily routine, after her shift she smiles at the guests, sitting on the bench outside. She always wanted to feel the maternal love from her parents but they were always out of the picture. They never really cared for Elena. She always does things on her own, she attended her graduation by herself in college and not to mention she paid for her tuition fee, doing countless part time jobs made her graduate without her parents' help

As Elena stood up and walks on the pavement, she is mesmerised by the trees swinging side by side as she made her way tot he nearest bus stop. She walks slowly as she wanted to feel the cold breeze on her skin as she waited for the bus to arrive.

As Elena was walking slowly towards the bus stop, she felt her phone buzz as she stopped her tracks. It was unusual that someone would text her because she got no friends and to top it all up, no one misses her. She doesn't even have someone to talk to that made her silent every time the management would set up a dinner party. If her phone received something it's either because she forgot to pay her debts or because it was a scammer trying to scam young people.

As Elena opened her screen, she was devastated as she saw that the management has fired her due to her shortcomings. But the truth behind that is her parents requesting of her removal from the company. Elena sighed as she has experienced this a lot of times but this is the only time her parents were involved. Elena has no interest in going home right now. She passed the bus stop and saw the bus just pulling up, taking in passengers.

As Elena was walking, she found a convenience store just ahead. She made her way inside and pulled out two bottles of soju from the refrigerator and went to the cashier. As she left the store, she gazes at the newspapers stacked together at the tables outside the store.

"I think I'll check if someone's hiring" she said as she approached the table and took a newspaper before leaving

She made her way to Han river as she plopped down on the cold floor and opened the bottle of Cold Soju. She drank at least half of it before taking a look on at the news paper. She scanned through the Job Opportunities section but Elena is not fit for most of them as she's overqualified. She sighed as she placed the newspaper beside her and watch as countless couples were enjoying their dates, some were walking around, some were riding the couple bicycle and some were making out.

Elena envies them as she has never been into a relationship before. She had this one friend in College that she fancies but not to the point that she wants him to be her boyfriend. That's why Elena was devastated when she heard that his parents wanted him to attend the next years of his college life in America. Elena begged him to stay but her friend couldn't do anything to change his parents' mind.

Years has passed and the two of them still haven't contacted each other. And now Elena's alone in the world, no one to lean to and no one to hold. Elena keeps on asking why is these things happening to her but no one answered why. She never wanted to love a life full of debts and tears, she wanted a life where she can be herself and do something she's good at.

As Elena took the last sip of her Soju, she stood up, gathered her trash and tossed them at the nearest garbage bin she could find. She looks one last time at the newspaper before taking off. She walks around mindlessly as she bumps into people. She feels groggy as her head was pounding. She doesn't know what she was doing at that time but Fate must be playing with her as she saw a sign at the building next to her

"Hiring Secretary of Mr. Darren Lee" she reads as she scanned the whole paper

She gasped as all of the qualifications needed for the secretarial position met with hers. She jumped in joy as she held the paper on her hands. She never felt this happy before and now, her life will completely turn.

The Next Day

Elena woke up with a headache as she regretted drinking two bottles of soju alone. She pushed aside the pain as she went to the bathroom and took a shower. After preparing herself for the interview, she stares at the mirror as she never felt this happy before.

With all the files needed all strapped up on her hand, she smiled and left her house. She told herself that no matter what happens, she's going to get that job, she had to.

Elena entered the building as she was mesmerised by the interior. All the employees had their chins up and they were practically proud of their Job. As Elena went to the elevators after the guards gave her a pass, she stood at the Elevator where nobody was standing at. She looks around as no one seemed to mind that she's standing there

"Is this one of those drama's that the CEO will come and this Elevator is specially reserved for him?" She asked as she thought maybe the Elevator is broken.

She was about to join the other employees when the Elevator suddenly opened, she looks around as no one seemed  to notice, she went inside and pressed the 2nd to the top floor as it was stated at the paper that the interview will be held there.

She waited for the doors to close but before it could close, a hand stopped the doors from closing and a pale man in a black suit, surrounded by guards came face to face with her.

"If this is a drama, I'm screwed" said Elena as she smiled sheepishly towards the guy

"God Help me" she muttered as the guy smirked at him sending chills down her spine.

"God cannot hear you" said the guy as he entered the Elevator with Elena and pressed the top most floor, leaving his body guard at the Lobby

"Welcome Ms. Elena, You're here for the Interview?" Asked the guys as she nodded in response

"Well, allow me to introduce Myself" said the guy as Elena faced her body towards him

"My name is Darren Lee, I'm the President of this Company. And I'll personally interview you for the Secretary Position after all, you'll be taking care of me for a while" said Darren as he smirked at Elena

Elena couldn't think of what to do and instead, she gulped in nervousness
