Chapter 3

My heart was racing and tears were streaming from my eyes, even my hands were shaking. Words could not explain the level of fear that gripped my body when I heard the gunshots and the bullets that shattered the glass and were impaling the door of the car. I was still shaking when Dante reached for a gun under his seat and left the car, but the attackers had already driven off, and he was just shooting at the back of their car. He got inside the car and held me up to sit. I was shaking and crying. “It's OK love, it's alright, you're OK, I'm here,” Dante said repeatedly in a futile attempt to console me. He held me for a while before letting go. “Let's go home.” I couldn't say anything throughout the ride, the window was broken, and I couldn't lean on the remains of the glass. It was a quiet ride. When we got home, Dante carried me inside the house to our room, he laid me on the bed and kissed my forehead. “Goodnight” I couldn't say a word, neither could I sleep, so I could overhear him raging downstairs. A part of me was glad I didn't usually get to see that side of him. DANTE'S POV “I will kill them all, I will burn their empire to the ground. Who does that i***t think? He is trying to assassinate me trying” “You need to calm down sir,” Paolo said, trying to reason with me, but I was way beyond reasoning. “They tried to kill me, not only me, but they tried to kill my wife”, I roared, hitting the center table “Find him.” “Find who, sir?” “Who else, Luciano's brother? He was the one who tried to kill me at his brother's behest. You have one hour to find him and give me his location.” “Yes sir” Paolo immediately went to work in the control room. 40 minutes later, he came to meet me in the living room. “I looked through the CCTV footage on that street and saw the plate number of the car, then I tracked it.” “The location,” I said coldly. “House 27, Vol Domo Street” I stood up and left immediately, entering my car. The only thing I could think about was how scared my little angel was, how could they terrify her like that? She would be traumatized, and I wanted to kill that bastard. I drove way past the speed limit to the location. When I got there, I took my gun and rolled the silencer on its head. I was still in the suit I wore to the dinner, although I left the blazer in the car. I walked into the compound and saw the car parked with the marks of my bullet all over it. I walked to the entrance, and it was locked, but I shot the lock open. There was no one in the living room, but I could hear loud music coming from one of the rooms upstairs. I climbed up to the door of the room and opened it. They all froze in their spots seeing me at the door. The music was still playing loudly. Four men were in that car that tried to kill me but I could only see three, the absent one being Luciano's brother. One of them tried to get the gun on the table, but I shot his hand and his scream filled the room. I was filled with rage. I wasn't going to waste my time on Manuel's minions, so I just put a bullet through their brains to end it quickly. Looking for Manuel was all that was left. I would torture that bastard and send his brother his head. It wasn't that hard to find him, seeing he had figured out what was going on, and he tried fleeing the house, but he received a bullet in his leg. I dragged him to my car, tied him up, and took him to my office, to the underground basement. There I had all my torture devices ready for any transgressors. He was gagged and all I could hear the whole time was his stupid and annoying muffled screams for mercy. Within minutes of getting to the basement, I tied him to a chair and took the gag off him, his leg bleeding profusely. “Do you know who I am?” I asked Manuel. “Yes I know” “Then who am I?” “Dante Ramano, the most feared Mafia Lord,” he said shakily. “Wrong,” I said and stabbed him in the knee with a knife. His screams which echoed in the room were like music to my ears. “I am the stuff of your nightmares, the devil you only see in your dreams, I am that devil manifest, and you will pay for your sins, dearly”. “Oh no please, don't kill me” Manuel cried shakily “I will kill you but not yet,” I said, smirking. “Bring her in,” I said to no one, but in just moments the back door was opened, and they brought in a girl, Manuel's girlfriend gagged with her hands tied behind her back. “No, don't hurt her” Manuel screamed in agony. “Please don't. I will do whatever you want. I will do anything for you. Please don't kill her.” "There is nothing you can do that will be able to compensate for the fear in her face," said Dante. “Please kill me instead.” Manuel was crying. I could see the fear on his face, and it made me happy. “You see, Manuel, I am not the monster you think I am. I'm the good guy” I said, smirking. Manuel continued to sob and beg for his girlfriend's life. “There, there, don't cry. I won't kill her” I said when I carried a syringe filled with poison and injected it into his neck. “Now that should do; your body will rot from the inside, and you will bleed in all possible holes, an excruciatingly painful death. And your girlfriend will be there to witness your death. What a sight it would be. Unfortunately, I couldn't witness that even if I wanted to. Your stench would get me all dirty. Have a nice night. Ciao” No, no please, Manuel screamed as I left the basement. I told Paolo to take care of his body when he dies and make sure his girlfriend kept her mouth shut. “No please.” Manuel screamed before he started choking on his own blood. “Noooooo!!!!”
