FELIX’S POV – WHISPERS OF DOUBTS The congratulations from different angles flooded into my ears, but none of it was registered. My focus, implanted on the two most important women in my life– my wife and my personal assistant. I knew they didn't get along well. They never saw eye to eye. Yet I foolishly assumed all was well and maybe they would see beyond each other, when they agreed to my demands. “Finally, there is no room for being a casanova…those days are over, Mr. Rowland,” Ryan, my best friend, teased. His gaze lingering on my wife. There was something about the way his eyes scanned her though, it was unsettling– something that made my guts twitch. It was something I couldn't comprehend– something like a puzzle. I had told him a lot about her as a man would brag about his woman he loved, but his gaze felt intense…different. “It is,” I sharply replied, my eyes never leaving Andrea. Her once– radiant smile vanished into thin air, her bright emerald eyes dulled with concern. Her brows furrowed unintentionally. Something was off. What had Allison whispered in her ears? I stared at her carefully, her focus not leaving Allison– she didn't even spare me a glance. Her attention revolved around Allison – My personal assistant, her supposed rival. With every movement made by Allison as she walked away, Andrea stood frozen to the spot. Her thoughts far away. Then, exactly as I suspected, she made a move forward, ready to follow. “Andrea.” I beckoned– my voice firm yet gentle, pulling her back from whatever world she travelled to and like I expected, she jolted uncontrollably. She was lost– lost in whatever venomous words Allison had spitted into her ears. Had Allison crossed the line this time? My jaw clenched tightly, anger usurping around me but I controlled it. I couldn't make Andrea mine only to lose her. I couldn't lose her– not ever. “Andrea…wife,” I wore a smile – my tone soft and gentle, only for her. I walked towards her, my expressions flat, an attempt to distract her from whatever had unsettled her– changed her mood. Her wary eyes giving an uneasy expression, scanned me through. I didn't know why but I felt doubt lingering through her. What had Allison said? Then like that, without having an expression on her face, she let a small, convincing smile play through her lips. Something she did when she wasn't ok. “You can't give yourself to me a few minutes back only to drift later … Mrs. Rowland,” I teased planting a soft kiss on her forehead, hoping to ease whatever tension that clouded her. “You have me for a lifetime,” a smirk tugged the side of her lips as she countered so smoothly. “You need not to make it too obvious you can't draw a single breath without me. I could take advantage of it.” Damn, she was too good with comebacks. “Are you okay?” I questioned, attempting to get a hint of what Allison told her. “Yh…I'm fine,” she shrugged the question off. “Are you sure?” I persisted, unwilling to let go easily. “Is there something that should alarm me?” She shot back, her words sharp…I almost lost my guard. I shouldn't make it too obvious that I had kept my eyes on the relationship she shared with Allison a few moments ago, so I nodded my head in denial. “You mean the world to me and nothing can change that – not even God,” I assured her, my tone low but certain. She needed to be reassured after I had clearly seen doubt in her eyes. The flicker of relief in her emerald eyes shone brightly and I melted. My words must have lessened whatever seed of doubt Allison had planted in her mind. Out of the corner of my eyes, I sighted Allison slipping out of the hall feeling fulfilled. Her steps dominating a new aura. I made a mental note of having a conversation with Allison– it was urgent. “Come with me,” I said, running my fingers through her smooth soft chin carefully, hoping for a nod of approval. “I want to introduce you to some people.” I was lost– lost in the feeling of her soft skin. “Are we moving or you plan to set me on fire with your burning gaze?” she chuckled after studying me for a while. “Of course…” I exhaled a laughter, defeated. She had quite a humor– a sarcastic one. Vanquished, I wrapped her arms around mine, leading her to where my business associates gathered. I introduced her to everyone I could – except one person… Where the f**k had he gone? My eyes flickered around the mini crowd for the one person I really wanted Andrea to meet – Ryan. The reception wasn't grand, just the way Andrea had wanted it, so it was impossible for a grown man to disappear in it. Then, I heard it. The sharp sound of metal hitting a champagne glass, a signal for attention. Ryan. Always putting up a show. “ I want everyone here to give a round of applause to the newlyweds who we are gathered for today!” he announced. An unexpected smirk tugged at my lips and beside me, Andrea flushed despite her attempt to hide it. The defeaning eruption of the applause filled the room. “A toast!” Ryan roared. “To Felix and Andrea – for a lifetime.” “For a lifetime!” the crowd echoed, raising their glasses. Unable to resist anymore, I wrapped Andrea into my arms, capturing her lips into a deep, claiming kiss. I was needy and I couldn't wait anymore. She responded quickly, like she was sealing our vows for the second time. Savouring the moment, Allison didn't matter. Whatever she chipped in was a bluff to Andrea. There was no reason for a doubt. —––– “Hello beautiful couple,” Ryan blurted, interrupting as usual after the crowd began to disperse. “Man I had searched everywhere for you,” I said, exchanging a firm handshake, Andrea still by my side. “You don't need me anymore, you've got her,” he teased . His gaze averted to Andrea again in a way I couldn't comprehend– I felt my gut twist. I noticed it – but I shoved it aside. “Andrea, meet Ryan– my best friend, my brother and my closest business partner.” I made the introduction, smiling. She returned the gesture, but I knew better. It was forced. She was still bitter about the stunt he pulled earlier at the altar. “Ryan– meet Andrea, my love, my life and my world.” I repeated, my tone firm with meaning. Ryan extended his hands for a friendly handshake.” She is more divine than you’ve ever described” Andrea hesitated firstly, but took it with a polite smile playing on her face. A blush crept to her cheeks and I noticed it even though she tried to hide it. —–––––––––––––––– “Take care of her Felix.” I heard a voice say as I opened the doors of the G-Wagon jeep for Andrea. It was time for our honeymoon and everyone present had come to see us off. “I will…I promise.”, I swore with one hand in the air. It was my duty now– to love and cherish her more than I had ever done. And I was going to perform it without hesitation. Sliding into the car beside Andrea, we waved back at the crowd who returned the gesture. “I love you so much Andrea,” I confessed again, pulling her into another heart melting kiss – needy, consuming and deep. Her lips swollen from the impact. She pulled away with a naughty grin– “Save all this for tonight.” I blinked uncontrollably– I was caught off guard. Did I just hear my Andrea talk naughty? Did she just tease me? I furrowed my brows surprisingly but she just avoided my gaze, licking her lips in the most tempting way ever. Oh my God… she had no idea what she just did to me. I was painfully in need of pleasure. I turned my head away from her, needy of air – sucking in sharp breaths before I devoured her immediately. I hated losing control. Allison. Out of the corner of my eyes, I caught her – I saw her. Her face – Pale and unsettled. Her hazel black eyes – red. I felt it– a sharp sting in my chest – something in my chest twisted in pain. As we pulled away, I was able to catch the silent movement of her lips. “I love you.” I gulped down on nothing, not averting my gaze until I saw her no more.
