Jessie, what are you doing here so late?" I asked as I laid my bags on the table. "Umm, I wonder," she replied as she played with the ends of loose curls that had fallen free of her messy bun. "Umm, I wonder also," I repeated as I got a bottle of water out of the fridge. "Chaerin!...I'm supposed to have the attitude here, not you." Jessie cried as she stood up and walked to the kitchen. "Then can you please hurry and tell me why you have such an attitude, I just had the longest day ever and I'm pretty sure it's going to be even worse tomorrow," I said as I spun around to look at Jessie. "Omo..did you just snap at me Chae," Jessie asked as she put her hand on her chest and her drown-doe eyes got bigger. Standing there looking at Jessie's face I realized that I was maybe a little harsh, so taking a deep breath I looked at Jessie with apologetic eyes and said. "Ah, I'm sorry Jess I just had a really bad day I didn't mean to snap at you really." "Was your day really that bad Chae." "Oh my god it was horrible," I say as I take my glasses off and place them on the counter, "but enough about that what brings you here this time of night?" I said not wanting to think of work anymore. "Well this is the only way I can see you, even though we work for the same company and I've been back for almost two weeks I haven't seen you at all. Chhhaaaaeeeee I miss my best friend." Jessie whined looking like a toddler having a fit. "Jessie you know I got assigned to Bryant and he's a freaking slave driver," I say pulling my hair from its tight bun. "I know I hate him,' she said sucking her teeth. "Mentioning that as has he said anything else rude to you?" "What do you mean?" "Don't play dumb Chae, I know that asshat called you ugly...just wait until I see him," Jessie said as she balled her fist up. "No Jess he hasn't said anything else like that," I said lying not wanting Jessie to raid the castle later at work. "Are you sure? don't lie to me Chaerin Lee," she said serious and lacking any sweetness. "Jessie just let it go please," I said while rubbing my aching temples. "Chae why put up with an ass like him when you don't have to work anyway your parents left..." "Jessie I thought we promised not to talk about that, and anyway I want to earn my own money," I said cutting her off. "And I love my job even though my boss is a total dick." "But Chae..." "No buts..." "Chae..." "Jess please," I said looking at her. "S..sorry Chae," she muttered "Anyway, the other reason I'm here this late is that Nessa's twenty-first birthday is coming up in two weeks and we have nothing planned yet." her normal excitement returned to her voice. "Oh crap is it that time already? How could I forget something so important?" I said as I fell on my Italian leather sofa. "Because you've been working for that bloodsucker..." hearing bloodsucker I sat up quickly and looked at Jessie. "W..what is that supposed to mean?" I asked nervously. Did Jessie know Bryant was a vampire? "Nothing except he's sucking the freaking life out of you is all," Jessie replied as she raised an eyebrow. "Why, did you think I meant something else?" "Hahaha, no, no of course not. I'm just so tired my mind is not fully awake," I said as I sunk back into the sofa. "Mmm. Well, moving on what about Nessa?" she asked taking a seat next to me. "Jess can you take care of everything this year please, I'll pay for it just handle everything else," I said my exhaustion seeping through my words. "I kind of figured this would happen so I already started I just wanted to get a little feedback is all, and as far as money it's fifty-fifty," she said as she crossed her long legs. "Ah, Jess I love you so much and sorry I can't be more help right now," I said relaxing a little. "It's okay I know you're busy and I'm on a break now so it's all good. Now what do think about having strippers?" she said a big smile blooming across her face. "No..No..No..no strippers," I say sitting up quickly. "I knew you would say that, well too bad I already paid for it and there is no way you're going to back out of it," Jessie said as she pointed her finger at her. "Plus you know Nessa loves to appreciate the male form," Jessie said with a sly grin. "Yeah you heard her Chae you can't back out," said Vanessa as she walked into the house. "Back out of what Jessie?" she asked making the two of us laugh because we had thought that she heard us. "Nothing for you you know," Jessie answered. "So rude, did your parents teach you to respect others in their home?" Vanessa said walking towards us, before stopping in front of Jessie. "Of course, and I am respecting Chae since this is her home," Bom said sticking her tongue out at Vanessa. "Chae Jessie's being mean to me again." Vanessa pouted as she sat next to me giving her famous puppy dog eyes and linking our arms as she laid her head on my shoulder. "You two stop it," I said shaking my head and smiling softly. "It's too late for this," I choked out with a yawn. "Well, I'm going to go since we already handled what is important," Jessie said standing. "Oh and if that douche says anything else tell me so I can kick his butt." "Yes, yes I will," I said as pulled from Vanessa's hold and stood up, and walked her to the door, giving her a hug before she left. "Bye, Jessie!" Vanessa yelled on her way to the kitchen. "I'm so tired. I'm going to bed," I said making my way to the stairs. "Oh, do you need a ride in the morning?" "Ah no...Mika is going to pick me up," she said nonchalantly as she took a sip of water. "Ok. Wait, what? Did you just say Mika, is picking you up?" I asked as I turned on my heels and looked at her. "Don't get the wrong idea I have to go over some moves with him for his new video and since he has to go past here he offered to pick me up," she answered looking innocent. "Mmhhm. If you say so," I said then started up the stairs. "Goodnight Nessa love you." "Love you too Chae."
