The little Devilkin were hatching one after another, each displaying diverse forms. Some resembled humans like Beelze, while others had animal-like bodies with four limbs on the ground. There were also insect-like Devilkin with multiple legs, and some even had wings from birth.
Their skin colors varied widely. Most were a reddish-black hue, but there were also dark gray, cyan, and other variations with overlapping skin tones. It appeared that "Devilkin" was a general term encompassing various races among them.
In contrast to Beelze, who carefully surveyed his surroundings upon hatching, these little Devilkin instinctively began devouring their eggshells immediately after emerging. The beach resounded with the sounds of rustling and clattering as most of them consumed their shells, a sight that might unsettle someone fearful of crowds.
Beelze watched cautiously, feeling no kinship with these other Devilkin. However, he noted a peculiar difference: the newly hatched Devilkin were unlike him. Their bodies were mostly dry, in contrast to Beelze's own, which had been moistened by the mucus left in the eggshell.
He realized he was not as large or strong as these newborn Devilkin with similar skin tones. Was this because he had been born prematurely?
After finishing their meals, the little Devilkin did something that deeply disturbed Beelze. Twenty meters to his right, a black-skinned Devilkin with a frightening visage emerged. It sported four eyes on its forehead with vertical pupils and a short tail. Beelze observed in horror as this Devilkin patted its stomach after consuming its shell, then picked up a cooled lava stone and hopped towards the shoreline.
There were still numerous unhatched Devilkin eggs on the beach. The four-eyed Devilkin found one, raised the stone, and smashed the shell. It cracked immediately, but the Devilkin didn't stop there. It ruthlessly struck the egg repeatedly until it shattered completely.
The sticky mucus spilled out, and the trapped Devilkin inside struggled futilely. The four-eyed Devilkin showed no mercy, continuing to crush the helpless creature with the stone. The cries grew weaker with each blow, the agony evident even to Beelze, who could do nothing to intervene.
He realized the trapped Devilkin would perish before ever experiencing life...
Most of the other Devilkin that hatched did the same thing as this six-eyed Devilkin, seeming to have agreed unanimously upon it. They used the stones on the ground as weapons to break the eggs of those Devilkin that had yet to hatch and then kill the little Devilkin within.
Beelze felt a chill down his spine from this extremely cruel scene.
Is this the law of survival in the Devilkin World?!
These Devilkin did not even treat the other Devilkin as their comrades, much less a fake one like Beelze. Beelze turned around and found that many of the little Devilkin were clapping and jumping around proudly on the spot, quacking and laughing as though it was all a fun game after their kills.
This habitual cruelty and murderousness seemed to be a common trait among even the infant Devilkin.
The six-eyed Devilkin not far from Beelze completed his b****y kill at this time. A small ball of light appeared from the body of the dead little Devilkin and wanted to fly away, but the vicious hand of the murderer grabbed it before it could!
After catching the ball of light, the six-eyed Devilkin swallowed it whole.
The six-eyed Devilkin’s body began to tremble and immediately entered a strange state. Even a bystander like Beelze could see that he… seemed to be in ecstasy!
A song suddenly appeared in Beelze’s mind after looking at his expression. Heyo, I feel like my life has reached the c****x…
"That glowing light... Is it a spirit?!"
Beelze reacted fast, looking around to see the early-hatched little Devilkin collecting spirits from their kills and swallowing them whole. They all looked so happy afterward...
"This must be because of the Spirit Master thing in Devilkin nature. No wonder spirits are so important in Devilkin stories..."
Beelze saw his chance to get his first spirit - from a little Devilkin that hadn't managed to hatch from its egg.
As a weak premature baby, Beelze felt really scared. From what he saw, only the strongest survive in the Devilkin world. He wasn't sure if the other little Devilkin would target a weak guy like him, so he needed to get stronger fast to improve his chances.
Beelze picked up a lava stone and hurried to a Devilkin egg. He got ready and hit the eggshell. It cracked on his first hit.
He kept hitting until finally, c***k, the eggshell broke. Mucus came out, showing a black Devilkin with a worm-like mouth. It tried to get out because it was afraid of getting caught.
Beelze was relieved that it looked so weird. He smashed its head with the stone. The weird body made it hard to find its head, but Beelze hit near the sharp mouth, biting his teeth and smashing it again and again until the Devilkin became a white, slurry goo. The goo mixed with the purple Devil Bloodline, making it look awful.
Beelze felt sick, but he finished his first kill and got the spirit from the Devilkin. However, the light was weak and the spirit seemed small, so it wasn't good quality.
Anyway, Beelze got his first spirit. Finally, he could use the save thing and make himself better.
