Chapter Nine I lost track of time as I sat up there with Laura, watching the skies and enjoying the moment and not particularly caring one way or the other if we saw anything or not. The stars were as bright as her smile, and that was enough for me. I don’t know when Laura nodded off, but her snoring jolted me up, as I was on the verge of dozing myself. “Uuugh.” She yawned, slightly cranky. “Did you see anything?” “Nope.” “Hmm.” She sat up, annoyed. “UFOs suck.” I shrugged. “Maybe it wasn’t our night.” She stood. “Maybe. You think we missed the party?” I didn’t think that sounded accurate. Even if it was over when we came down off the roof, you could hardly say we “missed” the party.
