What did I miss ?.The phone rings, it's Lila, he couldn't pick it up, his chest tightened, the pace of his breath got faster, his stomach turned as he couldn't decide whether to pick up the phone or just let it ring.The beautiful, kind, gentle, and respectful Lila he knew had turned into a deceitful, manipulative, and secretive person.He was afraid of her.How could she pretend for so long? How come I never saw this side of her before? Did I marry a monster? , was she really pretending to love me? What else is she hiding from me? He drove around till he went to a local bar and just sat there. He hadn't taken a drink in a very long time since he met Lila and got married, and now all that he had seemed like it was just a lie. He drank one drink and felt uncomfortable. It had been so long since he tasted alcohol that it tasted funny. He sat and listened to the music for a while to take his mind off things.Lila kept calling, and he didn't pick up he didn't know what he would say to her if he did pick up; he wasn't sure if he wanted to go back to her or just leave.He had so many questions and had no one around to answer them, nothing made sense. Why would she not tell him she was pregnant before? Why would she keep Mark a secret even from Mara? At this moment, Daniel completely forgot what he and Mara had done. All he could see was how different Lila was. Deep down, he wanted answers and wished he could ask her, but he hated the thought of seeing her.Taking the second glass, he started to relax and calm down. He started to regret what he and Mara had done his marriage had fallen apart, and he saw everything slipping away from him. He loved his wife, but the version of her that he knew was not this person who had an abortion and kept secrets from him.For years, he wanted a child, and Lila kept making excuses, and for the first time, he finally understood why she kept postponing; she already had a history of pregnancy and a bad one at that Daniel felt betrayed and continued to drink the entireafternoon.Mara kept quiet and stared at Lila with eyes full of pain and disappointment, I am sorry for the pain I caused you I really wanted to tell you many times, you loved him and you two seemed happy together, I kept hoping he would be different to you, sadness by the pain she saw in Mara's face Lila spoke to her with compassion. She couldn't wait to hold him and hear him cry for the first time.For him, she was willing to walk away from all that saddened her and brought her pain.Lila pented up and down the house as Daniel kept ignoring his call. She asked herself, "Did I do the right thing to tell him?" I have kept this secret for so long. Maybe it wasn't the right time to tell him. Where could he be? She called close friends of Daniel, hoping one of them knew where he was, but none of them did.Is my marriage over? She said out loud, looking at herself in the mirror.Tears went down her face as she thought about how beautiful and nice her marriage to Daniel was, and how loving and kind he had always been to her.The door banged was it Daniel?Did he want to talk? Or was it Mara wanting to face her for what she had done?she took a deep breath washed her face and said to herself whatever happens il be ok, because I trust that all things will work out well for me .as she walked towards the hallway she could smell his perfume it was one she had bought for him during one of his birthdays, tears fell down her face and her heart melted as she hoped he had come to give her a chance so she could explain what happened, he went straight to their bedroom amd through himself to the bed .As she followed the smellll she also smelt the alcohol and began to get worrieded and her heart broke.Did she send him down the drain by confessing?Was he going to forgive her, or pack to leave?I'm sorry where the first words she atted when she walked inside the bedroom. Daniel didn't respond his eyes where red from tears and alcohol his soul looked broken, I never ment to hurt you she contined, it was along time ago, I know I should have told you, especially because you wanted a family and I kept postponing that, and told you it was for my career, the truth is before we met, I was a different person and when I became a Christian I changed, and met you, I couldn't tell you how damaged I was or how bad my past was because I loved how you looked at me when you thought I deserved a chance, I'm really sorry I couldn't look at myself the way you did. I love you, and I pray that one day you will forgive me.These words pierced through Daniel's heart, but he was very angry even though he had also betrayed her.He did love his wife, and he loved being married to her. Was he willing to give it another chance, or would he walk away? Only time would tell.
