Papa's words lingered on my head the whole weekend, and when Monday came, as I stared at my car—it was given to me so, technically, it's mine—I realized that, maybe, just this once, I will accept something from him. After all, his money was my mother's money as well. So, I would just think that this is my nanay's gift rather than his gift. "Gagamitin mo rin pala, ang dami-dami mo pang-arte," Papa commented behind me. Inirapan ko nga. "Mas gusto mo bang ibalik ko na lang 'to?' I asked. He shrugged. "Kung hindi mo tatanggapin, ako na lang ang gagamit." He said. "Baka ibibigay mo lang kamo sa bago mong boyfriend!" I fired back. Papa's love life isn't secret to me. He always makes sure to tell me if he has someone so I won't be surprised if one day he suddenly thought of bringing one at home. Papa Ae laughed and shook his head. "Basta mag-iingat ka. Diyos ko. Bakit ba kasi sa dinami-rami ng ire-regalo, sasakyan pa ang naisipan ng tatay mo?" He spoke. "Ikaw kaya nagsabi nito," I said. He rolled his eyes. "He asked me if you want a car, of course, I will tell him the truth." "Then, why are you complaining?" I asked. "Alam mo, maldita ka talaga! Manang-mana ka talaga sa pinagmanahan mo," he said. I just snorted and pressed the key to unlock my car's door. "Sayo kaya ako nagmana," I said. Inirapan niya naman ako kaya natawa ako. "Pasok na ako," I said before hopping in the car. Papa just waved his hand and went in his car. I suddenly felt weird and excited now that I'm driving myself to school using my own car. God. For the first time, I have something I'm—kind of—thankful for. "Where did you get that?" Dan asked, bewildered that I suddenly brought a car to school. I smirked and said, "Birthday gift." "From who?" He asked again. "Surely, your Papa won't give you that," he added. I rolled my eyes. "Biological," I answered shortly and he nodded, understanding what I said although it doesn't have a context. "Tito Xander gave you a car? Wow. I envy you," Dionne commented. "Who's that?" Lucia butted in, confused about whom we were talking about. "Her biological father," Keith answered. "Biological? You're adopted?" Lucia asked. I shook my head. "Nope." "It's a long story, Lucia. But to make it short, A has two fathers. Her biological father and her mom's best friend," Dionne explained. "And her mom?" "She died giving birth to me," I answered. Lucia's eyes widened and her face immediately turned soft. "I'm sorry," she said. I shrugged. "It's fine." I said and started walking ahead of them, not wanting to talk about my mother further. My nanay will never be a subject of gossip for anyone, I will never let that happen. We all walked to our rooms after. We walked D first, before Dan and K walked Lucia and I. "See you at lunch. Don't dare going missing," Dan said. I just rolled my eyes at him. Tss. Killjoy! I have already planned my lunch to be with Dylan! I told him I'll show my car to him and he's very excited about it. [I can't meet you at lunch. Your brother's fault.] I texted him immediately. I sat in my chair while waiting for his reply when the powerpuff girls went to my side. [What did he do again?] Dashiel replied. I looked at the powerpuff and arched my brow. "You need something?" I asked them. One of them shrugged and said, "So, it's true that you got a boyfriend," glancing at my phone. I squinted my eyes. "Harriet said. She told us she saw you hopping in a black Range Rover with a super tinted window," she added. I turned to Harriet, who's arching her brow at me. I rolled my eyes at her. Really? "Didn't you know you gossip about someone's personal life," I said. I wanted to add low class bitches, but I chose not. Don't want to cause trouble. I'm so tired of dealing with their childishness. "So, is it true?" One of the powerpuff girls asked again. I rolled my eyes again and crossed my arms to my chest. "What good will it bring to you if I say yes?" I asked instead. I heard Lucia gasping and I ignored it. I can always say I'm lying just to shut these bitches up. "So, you're not going to deny it?" Harriet butted in. God. This girl really has a big problem with me. I smirked. "I don't have anything to deny, girl." I spoke. "Wow! So, you're proud that you are dating your best friend's brother behind her back?" She spoke again. Again, I rolled my eyes. "How sure are you that we are dating just because I hopped in his car?" I asked. The powerpuff girls looked at her, arching their brows as they waited for Harriet's answer. I sighed. "Like you said, his sister is my best friend, Dionne and I grew up together so, technically, I grew up with her brothers too." I added. "Know your facts first before you spread it," I said again. I don't really know what their problem is but I know, after this, I should be more careful of my actions. I know Harriet won't stop until she has proven that her assumptions of me are correct. But I won't let her nor any of them. If I had to be more discreet then, I would do that. The powerpuff girls rolled their eyes as they turned to Harriet. "You embarrassed us," one of them said to her. Harriet, on the other hand, just rolled her eyes to them as well before turning to me and gave me a glare. I just arched my brow at her. Pathetic. [He told me to eat with them later and I can't go missing. He said he's going to smash my windshield.] I replied to Dashiel after the scene was over. [They are really suspicious, huh?] he replied. Sometimes, I wonder how he can reply that fast when I know he has tons of school work. [Yeah. And actually, one of my classmates saw us and said that we are dating.] [Aren't we?] He replied. Wow. He still has time to make fun. [This is a serious matter, Mr. Dela Torre.] I replied and he just replied with an emoji. Tss. [I'm sorry. What do you suggest, then?] He asked. [Be more careful.] I answered. [But we are already?] [Your face. If you know, you are so eager to make us public. You can't fool me.] He replied with a laughing emoji. [Because, I want to date you publicly. I want to hold and kiss you without hiding, I want everyone to know that you're mine.] He replied again. I pouted. God. [You're mine.] I said, trying to suppress the kilig I'm feeling. [I'm all yours, baby.] He replied again. "We heard what happened," Dan said upon arriving at our table. We are in the cafeteria for our lunch. I just shrugged. "She really has a problem with you, huh? But at least, it wasn't Dan she thought of you dating. God. That would be gross," Dionne said. Dan snorted immediately at her sister before it turned to me again. "When did Kuya pick you up?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "Do I really have to remind you, asshole?" I asked. He shrugged then sat in front of us. "Let's just eat," he said, ending the topic. We all shrugged and stood to get our food. "A." Dionne called me. "Hmm?" "If ever, would you date Kuya Dash?" she asked. I squinted my eyes. 'Why are you asking me that?" I asked instead. She shrugged. "Because, I know he has a big crush on you and I don't want other girls for him if it wasn't you," she said. "But I'm your best friend?" I asked, confused. I know I should be happy because she wants me for her brother, but I can't feel at ease with that. "So?" she answered. I creased my brow and she laughed. "I like you for Kuya Dash, A! Aside from him liking you, I can see that he's different around you. It was only you who can bring out the real him," she said. She noticed. I opened my mouth to say something but she immediately shut me up by saying, "Don't tell Kuya that I told you about him crushing on you, 'kay? Even to Kuya Dan! That traitor will tell Kuya and I will be dead if he knew." She left me after that. Dammit! I can't wait to see Dashiel now and I swear, he's going to get his punishment from me this time. [Are you done with your class?] I texted him after my class dismissal. God. I never noticed how time went slowly until today. Why does the clock tick slower when you're waiting for it to pass? [Still have half an hour. Are we going to meet?] He replied. [I'm at your dorm. Waiting.] I replied. He gave me his dorm's spare key, so I can come inside whenever I want. [Alright. Wait for me, please. I will bring food. What do you want?] He replied. [Pizza and beer?] I sent it. [Alright, pizza.] He answered. [How about the beer?] I asked. [No beer, baby.] I pouted. [Whatever.] I replied and he just sent me a laughing emoji. But I was stubborn—and he knew that—so, I ordered beer. [You can sleep for a while. I will just wake you up when I arrive.] He texted again. But instead of doing what he said, I started executing my plan. I started by taking a bath, making my skin clean, smooth, and fragrant. I just wore a bathrobe after that. I also arranged his room into something romantic like: I lightened some scented candles and put some rose petals on the floor and bed. Thus, I set up some food on the floor as if we will have a picnic—beers are already chillin' in the bucket—the speakers were also in line to play some romantic songs when he arrived. "There," I said to myself, looking at the arrangements I made.
