The car glided smoothly along the tree-lined avenue, passing mansions that looked more like small palaces than homes. My stomach knotted tighter with each passing minute.
I'd never been in this part of New York before. The ultra-wealthy district where even the smallest properties started at nine figures.
"We're approaching the Blackwood estate, Miss Bennett," the driver announced, his voice professionally detached.
