The inside of the Krauss Manor was just as mysterious and creepy as its exterior, but it was clearly quite ornate compared to the more rustic homes Seraphina had seen. The walls and rooms were lit from floor to ceiling by witch-lights and smokey lanterns in all shapes and sizes. There were paintings of landscapes all over the walls, some picturesque and realistic while others appeared to have been stripped from someone’s nightmares. At the far end of the entrance hall was a spiral circus that wound all the way up to the top floors, and was well polished. Seraphina followed behind Maxwell and Adam, Alios looming behind her back as they were led up the stairs and into a lovely dining area located on the second floor.
