Chapter 3: Powerful Creature

I started looking again for the herbal medicines when I walked away from that man. Yet, when I was about to look intently at the plant near me, I heard someone spoke from behind, “How may I help you?”

I looked around and found the same person who had his bluish eyes glowing in the dark, offering assistance to me.

“Are you bored or what? Are you some kind of those noble people who look down on us by imitating our lives?” For I haven’t seen him in our town, and some nobles were reported wearing clothes of polites in our town to escape their rich life and find some adventure.

I saw that he was startled for what I said. And from then on, I decided to leave him even more and became eager to find still the medicines I’ll be needing.

“I am not!” He shouted from behind. I stopped walking.

“Then, why are you following me? Why are you curious to what I was doing?” I seriously asked him.

“I am hunting for a rare creature. Those that are powerful and could protect people.” He answered sincerely.

I remember the fables my parents were telling me.

But I looked him in the eyes and told him, “I don’t believe such fables!”

Eureka made a strange sound again, concluding that he was awakened by the noise of the person talking to me.

It made that man even more curious to see what was on my basket.

“He’s my cat!” I hissed at him.

Seeing that he’s still interested in peeking at my basket to know what the strange sound was, I left him. I wanted to protect Eureka from that man.

I ran away from him.

Since then, I haven’t seen him again, and I stopped running when I finally found the herbal medicines under the huge trees near a dark cave.

I put the basket in the ground and started taking a look at what Eureka might be doing.

“Eureka, I’m glad you’re well…” The antidote I had given him was effective.

I put him down beside me while his tail was wiggling.

And I remember the flames in his tail awhile ago.

But I shook my head upon that idea, and still convinced myself that I might just be sleepy.

He’s just a cat… I know about that.

HE is not one of those creatures that my parents were telling me.

“From now on, Eureka, I will look after you!” I smiled at him and embraced him tight. His tail wiggled again and I started gathering the herbs, putting them in my basket.

When I finished gathering the medicines, I fixed all of my things and carried Eureka in my arms.

I started walking back to our town, not seeing again the person who helped me from the powerful creature.

"EUREKA, Eureka!" I was tending the sheep and brought Eureka with me but he got lost in my sight.

It was two weeks after I have found him, and I was already finished in treating the wounds of my sheep. Eureka also got healed from his bruises and became lively and was fast in growing. It made him seemed to be a big cat.

His fur was also longer than that of a typical cat.

“Where are you hiding?” I ran to look after him while leaving my sheep for a while in care of my pet dog.

“EUREKA! Eureka!” I shouted at the woods and searched every tree.

From there, I heard him make a sound, hissing at something.

“Shee... Sheee...”

"EUREKA!" I saw him at the back of a huge tree, facing a wild lion.

I became afraid and did not know what to do.

“Roaaarrrr!” The lion growl at Eureka. It noticed me and became ready to attack me!

“Eureka!” I shouted.

I still did not know what to do, having only Eureka at my side.

Eureka’s eyes ignited like fire as he continues to make a sound, not until…

Wooooshhhh!!!

Eureka cast a blazing fire out of his mouth!

It burned the lion even the trees around it!

I was stunned.

“Eureka!” The powerful creatures that my parents were telling me, it’s real.

They are not fables, they are real, and Eureka made it possible to me.

EUREKA stopped releasing fire from his mouth and looked at me with his eyes still blazing in fire.

His eyes came back to its natural glow upon seeing me. He walked towards me, wiggling his tail to my clothes.

“How could you not inform me that you are a rare creature!” I embraced him and become thankful. I found such a precious gem--a hidden gem of our land.

We went back to my flock of sheep, rejoicing to what just happened that day.

When I was done tending the sheep, I started training Eureka with his power through commanding him with skills and even discovering furthermore abilities that he has upon the challenges I am giving him.
