ANDREW
Trouble lurks.
I stared in anger at Elliot as he stormed into the office with some guys.
I presume those are the friends he hangs out with.
The very ones that poison his mind against me the more.
"What are you doing here, Elliot?" I frowned at him.
"Since you have refused to give me what belongs to me, I have come to take it by force!" He responded rudely.
"Are you okay at all? Did you even notice Andria is here? Are we supposed to be doing this here in front of our baby sister?"
"I have no business with her. Just give me what I ask for and I will leave," he said.
I turned to Andria and asked her to excuse us.
She didn't want to leave but I had to signal to her that it was best she left for now.
"Please don't fight with him," She whispered to me and left the office.
This wasn't the first time Elliot would barge into my office, causing a nuisance. It wasn't the second or third.
However, this was the first he would come in with these strange faces.
"Who are these people with you?"
"My brothers. Ready to fight for me to get the inheritance I deserve. What you are sitting on and enjoying does not belong to you!"
"Do you need me to remind you I am older than you and as the first son, I should be the one to handle our family riches?" Elliot protested.
"I respect you, Elliot. Father left me all of these to take over. You can work with me and let's......"
"Oh please…Don't even patronize me with that. I'm not leaving here unless you give me what is mine!"
I wished the security would come in here but I already know they won't.
It was Elliot and I in the office. They know better than to interfere in the brothers’ argument.
"We can settle this. This is a family business. Just tell these people to leave. They have no business here," I said, hoping he would listen.
"I know you won't give it up like that. Anyways, just expect the worst from me and deal with it!" He spoke in a loud tone and left the office angrily.
His men followed him.
I sighed. "How long do I have to deal with this?"
I wasn't moved by his threats. However, I needed to be careful with him.
I called the front desk afterward. "Hello, Is Andria there? Tell her to come back,"
"Uhm, sir. She left the building already." The lady at the front desk replied.
I felt bad. Andria must be disappointed that her brothers are at it again.
"Oh s**t!"
"Olivia!"
"I just remembered I called her while Andria was here that I was coming,"
Andria suggested I did.
"Damn," I checked the time and noticed I was already late,"
She had even left several missed calls on my phone. She must be worried.
I left the office hurriedly and drove out.
I rang her phone back but she wasn't picking up.
I can't believe I messed it all up. This was supposed to go smoothly.
Now she isn't picking up my calls. She must be angry already.
"s**t!" I hit my hands on the steering as I drove swiftly to her apartment.
But on getting there, I met the door open wide.
I was worried. I rushed out of my car and went into the apartment but found no one there.
"Sir, some man came in here and took her away. I think they went to the police station," said the guy who was busy unloading some groceries boxes into the house.
"She left you a note" the delivery man added.
"Police station! What the heck is this? What did she do?"
I shouted in anger and stormed out of the house.
On reaching the police station, I met Olivia, standing beside her were two police officers who seemed to be assaulting her, raising their voices at her.
"She is a thief, officer," I heard one other guy shouting at her. He wore a blue-black shirt and pants and had dark shades on. He didn't look like an officer.
"Who the heck is this guy shouting at Olivia?" I said.
I came in with my officers with me in the car, prepared for anything.
"You are here, thank God!" Olivia said, rushing to hug me.
"What's this about? Why are you here?" I asked.
"I hope they didn't touch too?”
"Andrew, that's Liam. He came to the house with officers and here I am. I don't even know how he......"
"It's fine. Don't worry, I'm here now," I tried consoling her, wiping the tears off her face with my hands.
"Oh my. Mr Huxley. Is that you? Welcome sir. Is she your.....?" One of the officers stammered when he sighted me.
"So I heard this young man here came into my lady's house to arrest her. Do you even know what he had done to her? Did you bother to make your findings?"
"I am sorry, Mr Huxley. This man here claims your lady owes him a huge amount of money. Her father's debt, I presume." the officer explained, his voice trembling with fear.
I saw the way Liam looked at the officer in surprise when he noticed how much I was respected at the station.
"Whatever bill there is, I would sort it. Meanwhile, you should arrest this man for assault and domestic violence. He has been maltreating my lady for a long time now,"
The officer sprung into action without asking any questions.
"No, please don't. Just let him be, " Olivia pleaded on his behalf.
"Why? He ought to be arrested and punished for what he did to you!"
"Just leave him alone. Let's get out of here, please. I need to rest my head," she said.
I noticed how weak she looked. She wasn't feeling comfortable.
Just as I turned with Olivia to leave the police station, something hard was broken on my head.
"Aaargh," I grunt in pain.
