Helga traveled a hundred miles before she found a road. It was a blacktop and cars were traveling along it. They were frequently using this roadway. It may have been hundreds that passed in the time it took to walk the last few miles to get beside it. She slowed down when she sighted it. It wouldn’t do to give away the speed she could reach. The suit could make her run up to one hundred miles an hour. The ground had to be reasonably level like the road. As with all advanced technologies they could be weaponized in the wrong hands. Worse than that, this was alien technology. History class had told him, landing on worlds that didn’t know about the existence of other species could end up with you getting killed. Helga may have been born on this world but she was carrying alien tech. People might not believe she was human. She wasn’t in her time now either. If not for Helion’s knowledge she wouldn’t do well here either. Both personalities were stuck together. Helion decided to go west. The area had changed but the town he had been born in wasn’t far from here. It would be interesting to seen if it survived the years. When he reached the place they were little more than ruins. Few walls remained above ground. Bullet holes marred some of them. It seemed as if the entire area had seen the effects of wars. All of the small towns he had traveled through were gone. The town he had lived beside had been destroyed twice through the years. These human creatures were savage. Had he not lived and seen it with his own eyes he would never have believed a race could be so uncivilized. He knew there was a city nearby. He had come to this place to see what had become of it. It may have been Helga that had driven him here. She was having a baby. It was possible she was feeling the urge to see what had happened to her family home. Maybe she hoped to find relatives or hope her child would have a bright future. She cried as she viewed the remains. She deeply felt the loss of this empty place that had once been filled by her parents and siblings. Her childhood friends were also represented in these ruins. Time had passed so quickly for her. Helion felt the loss through her and it was a terrible emotion. He had not been prepared for this. They headed off together two souls trapped in the same body. In this moment there was no struggling and no fighting. They comforted each other, for they had only each other in this world. It had taken many years to discover they needed each other to survive. Neither of them could count on any outside aide. They were both out of heir time. Helga knew what he knew, she would be better off helping him. He was part of her and she loved him. Before now she had hated him, she had grown strong fighting him. It was probably that battle that had prepared her to fight the soldier. That sort of thing ruined most women. It had empowered her, it was what had awakened her. They walked towards the city. Into the beginning of their future. Helga decided that she would not fight against his desire to return to his people. He was hers, when he got out of her body she would need to be near him. Whatever that meant, she would take that as it came. They had been together since birth. She wouldn’t be able to survive without him she thought. Helion was of the same mind. The city was large. Buildings reached up to touch the clouds. It was spread out over square miles in all directions too. There were airplanes flying into and out of it at regular intervals. The traffic had picked up too and the roads had widened. If the cars could fly, this would feel more like his home world. He would have to look at what technologies hey had but, this was where he could start making use of his knowledge. Helga could have the baby here too. Another side effect of seeing her family home, she had abandoned the idea of leaving her child. Helion was in agreement too. It was more than that. He wanted her to be happy. He had falling in love with her too. He did not know if she would live long enough to be his mate. That was what he wanted. He knew her body and loved it. It was a strange position, he had been in this body longer than his own. Now that she had come fully awake her soul was beautiful to him. He no longer felt she was stupid and weak. Just different and she made him more. The things they were feeling were shared openly. It was like they were having a conversation without saying a word. They moved as one into their future
