CHAPTER 23
I got home after eating lunch with Nori. She was busy with her birthday preparation so I had to leave to not stall her on her big day this Friday. It was nice talking to her again. Talking like I didn’t have to hold back on information and details because I know no matter what, she would always understand my side.
I opened the door of the house. As I got in I dangle my shoes from my feet and let it fall on the floor. Just like yesterday, but this it’s different. I picked up my shoes then walked to my room. I was surprised to see my room clean but thankful because it was. I have to thank Madeline if I see her.
I put back shoes in my closet and threw my purse on my now lavender colored bed. The sheets where changed to a soft purple color. The room smelled like lavender, it smelled amazing. I took off my blazer and threw it on my bed as well.
I went back downstairs and sat in the couch. I turn on the tv and watched a couple of channels. Most were about current news, issues, and other things. There was a channel about the royal family. There was a photo: the queen sitting on the throne, beside her was the king with his arm over her shoulder, then beside the king was the teenager version of Ravier, on the queen’s right was her only daughter in a formal purple dress.
It was a family picture of them before Vivien, Ravier’s sister, left the kingdom. It was quite amusing to see the teenager Ravier. He looked like a limp, wasn’t strong or capable of anything. He was just a normal teen boy. And now, he is masculine. His body has been built up after years of working for it. From looking like a total loser to becoming everyone’s favorite prince.
Although I never got to know him before. He was pretty much everyone’s talk every day. It was annoying having to hear his name in every corridor of the school. But I dealt with it and now I’m his fiancée.
“Ironic,” I snorted.
Looking at the family picture displayed, I realize one day I might part of it. Standing still in a dress everyone would love to see me in and force a smile for everyone to see. It’s all part of being part of the royal family.
I groaned, this is rather testing me. I turned of the tv and went scrolling on my phone. Let’s see if I have any rumors with the prince. I clicked on Flutter, a widely known app for everyone to talk about anything and everything. I looked at the trending search bar. There wasn’t anything that had to do with the prince and me.
That was before I saw the hashtag for Nori’s birthday. Curious, I clicked the trending topic. There showed a dozen post of people talking about me and the prince. Well, not specifically me. I read one post.
@Jamie1984: “I heard the prince is bringing a date to Nori Nexu’s birthday,” 1:45 PM
@Kyltne4 replied: “The one he’s keeping in his house right now? ugh, can’t believing he’s bringing his w***e,” 1:55 PM
@Dead. Replied to @Kyltne4: “What do u mean w***e? It could be his girlfriend, no to slut shaming,” 2:01 PM
Thank you so much, dude. I said in my inner thoughts.
@Kyltne4 replied to @Dead.: “Oh rlly? Then why is he keeping her in his house and not tell anyone? feeling bad for him honestly, I bet she’s after his money,” 2:05 PM
@Krishaaa replied to @Kyltne4: “One: it’s not of your business if they want to keep it private, and two; you don’t even know her, stay jealous and mad b***h,”
I laughed at the comment. At least someone is defending me in this thread. I exit myself from the thread, not wanting to read anymore. I scrolled to see more post about us.
“The prince has a date!”
“I wonder who she is, if she pulled the prince, I bet she’s pretty as hell,”
“She might have cast a spell on him, our prince has been staying single for so long how could she changed his mind?”
“idk, none of our business, I just can’t wait to see her at the birthday party,”
It seemed like everyone was anticipating more on me and the prince then Nori’s birthday. I scrolled more then I saw a highly liked post that had thousands of shares and comments.
“who do you think she is?” the post said.
It showed a blurry picture of me slowly getting out of Ravier’s car in front of Nori’s mansion. luckily in that angle and face weren’t seen as we were far away from whoever took the picture. There were 3 pictures, the first one is where I slowly stepped out of the car, the second one was when I ran up to the mansion where neither my face or hair was seen. And in the third was Ravier out of the car, rolling up the sleeves of his polo.
They followed us to Nori’s? damn, they really won’t give up unless we go public. or worse, once we go public, they will never leave me alone.
I looked at the comments.
“Is she friends with Nori?”
“quick, get me list of names of Nori’s friends,”
“stupid, she’s friends with everyone, that girl could literally be anyone,”
“not just anyone, she is now going to be known as the prince’s secret girlfriend,”
“her outfit looks cute,”
“look at the prince, looking at her, he seems to like her so much:(,”
“shut up, he isn’t yours,”
I laughed looking at that comment. I realize, me dating the prince would mean I get break thousands of dreams girls have of him. well, that ain’t my problem. I’m not responsible for their hurting if it’s all their delusions. And, it’s not my fault I get to be his ‘lucky’ wife.
Hmm. Wife. What a lame excuse to hate on someone. Am I not getting too much credit for this and Ravier gets to runaway, facing no consequences?
My lips twisted. Men and they’re superiority complex.
“Hey, what are you reading?” A voice from behind crept.
I yelped by surprised and turned my head swiftly only to see Ravier close to my shoulder who seems to be looking at my phone from behind. He looked innocently as if he didn’t scared my soul out of me.
I groaned but turned my head back to my phone. His minty breath over my shoulder, constantly inhaling and exhaling making me annoyed. He didn’t stop even though he noticed how annoyed I was when I constantly adjust myself on my seat and twitching my face constantly.
“Ah,” He said, like a dad finally understanding math, “These are about us, now why are you reading these?”
I pursed my lips, “Curious,”
I scrolled on the feed as he stayed hunching from behind, looking at the same screen I was looking. He hadn’t said much as we both read the hateful comments about me and the ones that were sympathetic for him.
“This is unfair,” I exclaimed, “You get to have sympathy while I get slut shamed?”
He shook his head “Don’t mind them, they don’t know you yet,” he said from behind. Each of the words he said made my neck felt a tingle as his breathing stayed steady near my shoulder.
Of course, I didn’t really care what the public thought about me. But reading these comments, they make me burn a house to the ground. But I had to act classy so I won’t go out of character.
I glanced at Ravier. Silently still reading the comments, I snapped him out of his thoughts, “Hey!”
His eyes diverted from my phone and landed on me, golden eyes staring daringly at mine, “Do you have a Flutter account?” I asked, trying to brush of the slight trance he put me in.
“Yeah…?” He answered.
I tapped his shoulders, “Post something,”
“What?” his eyebrows furrowed.
“Just post something about me, something you genuinely think of me, give the people a clue,” I attentively nodded, trying to convince him in the idea.
His eyes narrowed as he walked away to the kitchen. He continued to walk to the fridge. I noticed he wasn’t wearing his coat anymore. I glanced at my side and saw it was sitting on the far side of the couch.
I stood up from the couch and quickly ran up to the kitchen. I sat on the usual seat of the island counter I sit.
“Come on,” I begged.
He sighed, placing his phone on the counter, “You do it,”
“No, it would look to forced,” I winced. Knowing how self absorbed I am, I would definitely exaggerated and it would look nothing like what the prince would say.
His face turned into dismay, “Why would I put fuel into the fire?”
I sighed, annoyingly, “Because you can! You’re the prince whatever nonsense you say, people would still eat it all up,”
He thought for a second. Then grabbed his phone and sat in front of me, “Later, how was your visit at Nori’s?” He changed the subject.
I felt annoyed how he just changed it but I let annoyance past and chose to answer his question, “It was fun, I missed her a lot,” I
I said remembering my visit at her home. Then I remembered something, I quickly got off of my seat, confusing Ravier. I went to the couch and took the red scroll I put on the couch just a while ago. I went back to the kitchen and threw the paper on the counter as it landed in front of Ravier.
He took the scroll and opened it, reading what was inside. I sat back on my seat and waited for his response.
“You want to go together?” He asked, raising his eyes at me.
“Of course not, we haven’t even gone public yet,”
“I mean we could make this our first appearance in public,” He said.
“No, I don’t want to steal Nori’s spotlight, let’s just create some more rumors until the time will come,” the corner of my lips curved, I felt like I was in power when it came to this situation.
“Then how would you like to go public?” He leaned with his arm on the counter top, leaning closer to me.
I pursed my lips. Thinking for a moment, “How about something completely random? Something that no one would expect,”
“Like what?” his forehead creased.
“Let’s get groceries,” I say, beaming widely on the idea.
“What?”
“Let it be completely random but normal to do when it comes to couples, we don’t want to make it seem forced or people would be suspicious, an afternoon out for groceries is something we could do, right?” The idea was perfect.
He stayed quiet as I continued to trail off, “I’d rather much prefer this since I don’t get to witness people gossiping in front of me,” I snorted on the last part.
If I ever go public in a party, I get to witness people gossiping and giving me the looks right in front of me. People have no shame when it comes to gossip, they never try to hide it nor feel shameful of it.
Ravier cleared his throat then nodded, “Okay, let’s do that then, but you have to tell your parents first,”
I was afraid I had to do that even though I am well aware it is bound to happen, “I’ll just give them a call…? Or something,” I quickly refused.
I could hear his sigh, “Hey, I’ll help you out, I’ll talk to your parents,”
I cringed, “You’ll ask for their permission?”
He nodded, “What?” noticing me trying hard not to laugh.
“Nothing, I just- I don’t know what my parents are going to react,”
“Well, they can’t change it anymore,” He shrugged as he got up from his seat, “In the end of the day, you,” he pointed at me making me furrow my eyebrows.
“Are you going to marry me,” he cockily smirk as he pointed at himself. He walked away but before that I shouted at him.
“Don’t forget about the post!” he just nodded then continued to fade into the darkness, walking upstairs and going inside of his room.
What am I going to do with him? Oh god, whatever am I supposed to do with a man like him for the rest of my life?
I pouted. He better do that post. I stood up then walked toward the fridge. I took out a bottle of cold water and hurriedly went back to the couch.
I opened my phone, and on that timing, I got a notification from Flutter. It was a notification of a new post that the Ravier posted. He better not post anything stupid or I’m not hesitating to chop him in tiny pieces.
I clicked the notification which led me to his Flutter account. I couldn’t help but scoff as I saw it already thousands of likes even though it had been posted just few seconds ago.
@RavierLa✓: “You don’t know much I want to protect you, my red head,” 4:59 PM, 5 seconds ago.
