All my time was taken up by reading. I found a book about herbs and plants that are safe to eat. I mean, sure—I’m alone, but the supplies won’t last forever, and I’ll need to drink something too.
The coolest part? The book had detailed descriptions—even down to the smell of each plant. Perfect for someone like me, who’s… not exactly a pro at this stuff. You could say I was reading and foraging at the same time, though reading is still really tough for me.
One odd thing about this house: there’s not a single mirror. I’m dying to know what I look like now… Have I changed? Do I look different from before?
I’ve got a lot of challenges ahead of me. But I keep telling myself,
“I’m strong. I can handle this.”
I say that out loud sometimes—a lot, actually.
Still, there are moments when this heavy, aching loneliness crashes down on me—so strong it’s like I could howl like a wolf. I’m scared. Scared of what’s ahead. What if this is it? What if I spend the rest of my life out here, in the middle of nowhere?
But deep down, I know… until I learn, until I adapt to this world, there’s no path back to people.
Not yet.
Turns out I was right— winter does exist here!
Good thing I prepped everything I could while the weather was still kind. Though… there’s a bit of a problem with the meat—there’s not much left. I’ll need to ration it carefully.
In the little shed behind the house, where I’ve been storing kindling and firewood, I found a couple of traps. But wow, they’re huge—probably big enough to catch a bear, not something I really want to deal with. Still, I set one up. Not that I expect to catch anything, but hey…
“The hope dies at last,” right?
Next on my list: warm clothes.
Some things were way too big, some oddly shaped, but I managed to find something that fit just right.
And then, in one of the corners—
“YES! A MIRROR!”
Oh wow… I’ve changed!
Where’s my straight nose? My brown eyes? Thin brows?
The only thing that stayed the same is my height, maybe my full lips…
Wait, no—my hair’s the same length, just… now it’s a deep blue-black. Huh.
Okay, let’s take stock:
– Height: still 170 cm.
– Hair: short, blue-black.
– I’ve filled out a little.
– Full lips, button nose, almond-shaped eyes—now a bright, pale green.
But the biggest change?
Not a single feminine curve left, and my face looks younger—like I’m fourteen, maybe?
…Maybe I am?
Well, if that’s the case… maybe it’s for the best.
Time keeps moving quietly.
The snow’s settled on the ground now.
And as for my past—there’s almost nothing left of it in my memory. Just one thing:
My name is Ellen
That’s all.
And honestly… that’s enough.
I feel at peace.
And then—another dream came.
“Good night, Ellen. How are you settling in?” Said the beautifull lady looking at me with soft eyes as if she knew me since birth.
“Thank you, I’m doing well.” I said with a bit supprise in my look.
“I see you’ve already learned so much—without even waiting for the full transfer of knowledge! You’re diligent. That’s wonderful.”
“Did you call me here for something?” I asked.
“So perceptive. Yes, I’m going to begin placing the essential knowledge for your current age into your mind.
Don’t worry—it won’t hurt.
And everything you’ve learned on your own will remain.” She said with spark.
“Excuse me... but why do I remember my past life here, but not there?
And... how old am I now?” This question really bugged me for quit a long itme.
“This is the timeless place—here, your memory stays whole.
As for your second question… you’ll find the answer yourself, in time.”
“Now lie down—just here.”
She pointed to a patch of moss that looked more like a mattress.
It was so soft… I felt sleepy the moment I touched it.
