Chapter 14 Chapter 14. A Five million Yuan Check

721 Words
Without saying a word, Alfred thought of Mia's face last night. Besides, she was murmuring her mother while she was sleeping. Through these, he could roughly guess what was going on. "Anyway, why have the Qiao family degenerated so fast in recent years? They used to be a decent family, but now they want to curry favor with a local tyrant!" Troy looked down on William Liu and looked down upon Andrew Qiao even more. How could a daughter-selling man be a good person! Alfred sneered, which made Troy not understand what he meant. It was reasonable to say that he did not pay attention to the marriage between the two families, nor would he publicly admit that girl as Mrs. Xi, but what did he mean by his expression. "Hey, what I told you is just a gossip for entertainment. You're not really take it serious, are you?" Troy suddenly became a little curious. "Is that William Liu you are talking about is the Guangyuan's manager who undertook the Greenwater Bay project?" Alfred asked casually. "How could you know him!" Troy was very surprised. "Not an important figure." Alfred put out the cigarette. He took a planning book and didn't speak any more. Troy was set aside. Seeing that the man in front of him began to concentrate on work, Troy felt bored. He stood up and was ready to go back home. Before leaving, he couldn't help reminding, "Don't forget the weekend dinner!" "You've already said it many times!" Alfred didn't even raise his head to look at him. His impatience was so obvious! Troy curled his lips and left. ·············· Mia had nothing to do at home, so she helped Mrs. Li in the kitchen. The fish soup she stewed was not bad, which was taught by her grandmother. The fish in the south of the Yangtze River was the most delicious, and there were many cooking methods. Mia was brought up there. When the soup was ready, Mrs. Li praised it repeatedly. It tasted delicious and was not oily of drinking too much. They had dinner together and left some soup for Alfred. Mia was sleepy because she took medicine in the evening, and went to bed early. She didn't know whether Alfred had come back or not. It was 8 o'clock when she woke up in the morning. She felt much better than yesterday, and her fever was almost gone. Mia was about to get up. She glanced at the desk lamp on the bedside table, and there was a bill under it. When she took it over, she found that it was a check of five million yuan. Mia suddenly felt the check was heavy. Five million. This was the first time in her life that she had seen so much money. There was no doubt that this was given by Alfred, but why? There were many thoughts flashing across her mind but only one thing she could not deny: she really did not understand that man. When she went downstairs, Mrs. Li told her that Alfred came back last night to pack up some clothes and went to Hong Kong on a business trip overnight. Before leaving, he did not forget to finish the fish soup. Mia was in a complicated mood, but now she couldn't ask him. Even if she asked, there might be no answer. After two days, the swelling on her cheek finally subsided, so Mia couldn't wait to go to the hospital. She was afraid that Jessie would make trouble for her grandmother. Fortunately, they didn't come. When she entered the ward, aunt Sun, the nurse, was massaging her grandma's leg. When she saw Mia's coming in, she immediately smiled and said, "Hello, Miss Qiao!" Mia nodded and greeted to her. Then she walked over and sat down beside the bed. Her grandma took her hand, with eyes full of pity. "Mia my dear, you are thinner!" "Really?" Mia smiled and touched her own face, "It's good to lose some weight!" "What are you talking about? You do not need to lose weight at all!" Grandma blamed. Meanwhile, aunt Sun took a hot water bottle and went out to get some water, letting the two talk privately.
